I had ny Custom Enterprise Y-pipe installed today. Its sounds great. I will see how it performs on my drive down to Florida starting Wed. morning. Later Warren

Issac the installer.

No that is the Goodyear shop on Stillwell and Ave U in Brooklyn. 1 hour, 100 dollars with tax. NY prices. David the owner of the shop says he will give members of the org. a 5% discount. Just have to prove it. Maybe someone can make a membership card. Its not much of a discount but its a start. I will try to get discounts at other places that that I use. Later Warren

I've heard it (Ramberg's car) with the intake and the exhaust, and it sounded really nice. only growls when you hit it, so its not constantly loud...but u need to hear it from ramberg's mouth, so we'll wait till he responds.

Do you really need to go back to stock for the emissions inspection? Are they that thorough? Couldn't you just take it through all warmed up?

NYS has a new emissions inspection. I know I will fail with the new Y-pipe. There is no cat in it. Later Warren

I see. I have to go through emissions in the next couple of months, but will just make sure the stainless steel Budget y-pipe I bought a year ago is good and warm. It removed two pre-cats but I still have the OEM cat in place.

Have fun on your road trip! Gotta love them.

With the new y-pipe installed, does your check engine light come on? If so, doesn't it bug you, if not, how did you get it off? I thought the cats came off with the 04 version of the aftermarket y-pipe....

The engine light does not come on. I quess the CE y-pipe is set-up that the light does not come on and yes the cat is gone. Later Warren

There is no reason for the CEL to come on because there isn't a sensor on or behind the cat: The engine doesn't know it's gone. There is a fitting for the oxygen sensor in the y-pipe for the automatics, but it is in front of the cat. There are still two pre-cats in each of the stock exhaust manifolds.

When I need to get my car emission tested, I'm leaving the y-pipe on (at least for the first try, you get two tries for your $15.00 here in Washington). I am betting it will pass with the y-pipe in place.

I'm getting mine inspected on the 18th with the y pipe on as well. A friend of mine is doing it for me, he said i should have a problem. I hope he's right. Otherwise i'll have to reinstall the old one for a few days.

I got mines on and there are no issues with it all. As long as the car is warmed up you should be all good. But I go to a private gas station to aviod all the hassles (like tints....etc.) They norrmally don't give you problems.

The only problem you might experience is a visual inspection for the CAT. If they don't do a visual under the car I bet it will pass.

We're OBD-II. No sniffer. If our cars don't throw any CELs and show functionality of the O2 sensors, then emissions should pass. As for the visual, I'm not sure how careful they look, but you could always tell them that our cars have 2 cats, one on each exhaust manifold??? Just looking for ways around changing it out every time we have to go for emissions. (annually in atlanta).

wow...seems like this y-pipe is a serious toy to play with...dunno what it does or how it does it but i will be doing some research...sounds interesting...i think that if i get it, i should have no problem as far as inspection is related. here in va they dont even look...they just hold your car for an hour and signed the paper and you are good to go...wish it wasnt like that sometimes though...last year i took my blazer for inspection...it had a weird sound when i used to apply the brakes ( now i know that means it needs new pads) it was there for a while before the inspection. i took for inspection and it passed with flying colors...two days later my friend went out for a drive with me and asked me when i was planning on replacing the brakes...they sounded horrible he said...when we arrived at our destination he decided to look thorugh the rims at the rotors and he almost fainted in the spot...thats how bad they were...we went to replace my brake pads...i had none...i was braking with the bare metal piece that holds the brake pad in place...

this is why, now i am trying to get into all this with cars...besides just driving them...but trying to understand and know how they work and how to recognized stuff like this sound that was telling me to change my brakes...but had i had a real inspection ...the funny thing is that the receipt said they removed the front right and the rear left tires...yeah right...
