06 Prices
06 Prices
im pretty sure this has been posted b4 but i couldnt find it so i was wondering if the 06's are gonna have a more expensive base price beacuse of the 25th anniversary. How much do u guys think it would go up?
97Se5spd - Knowing nothing, but based on over twenty years driving only Maximas, I would be very surprised if the base price of the '06 Maxima is more than a few hundred bucks different than the '05 prices. The car won't be much different than the '05.
If Nissan applies the '25th anniversary' thing across all '06 Maximas, it will be in the form of decals, logos, etc, which are cheap. If Nissan brings out a 'special 25th anniversary' version of the '06, it would have meaningful embellishments, and cost appreciably more than the '05 (or regular 06s), but would probably be a low volume 'introductory special' that might only be available only the first six months or so (sort of like the 'burnt ember' color on the '04).
Just my opinion.

I agree with light.......... the 5th gen AE was nothing special.
unless they are going to put a dvd player and a flip down screen like in the M45 wich I doubt, the 25th won't be nothing but a cool key chain and a badge...... WOOHOO!!

The 05 prices have already gone up, granted it was only 200 bucks I think. When I bought my Max, liquid silver with drivers, sunroof, mats, and splash guards, it was 32750 base. There was another one right next to it, same options and everything that was 32960 (or 32940).
has anyone heard anything else about the 06s? body changes? or anything about the awd vs rwd issue? you would think they would be coming out pretty soon seeing that 05 is almost halfway over. hopefully all the bugs will be worked out from the 04s and 05s...
Can anyone confirm this: At LA auto Show in Jan 2003, the 2004 Maxima prototype was a RWD car. Or was I dreaming? I thought they dumped that idea when the G35 was released. The chassis of G35, Altima, Maxima, and M are are basically the same, especially the Max and the M. Look at the Aussie's Max and the Japanese' Teanna and Fuga (M).
I have a very strong feeling we are going to see nothing but subtle variations of the 6th gen atleast till 2010...
I predict a 2008 maxima with a different front end, more power, just to freshen up...and we wont see this body dissapear till 2011 or 2012. Its way to costly and counterproductive to re-tool an entire production line unless there is a serious problem with sales.

RHMax - Although Nissan released one tantalizing photo of the 6th gen Maxima in mid-December of 2002, the first public appearance of the 6th gen Maxima was in January of 2003. But it was not at the LA auto show; it was at the Detroit auto show, and it was FWD.
Although the 6th gens did not begin arriving at dealers until early March of 2003 (first one arrived at my dealer March 8th), the production lines actually began producing the 6th gen in January of 2003, just a week after their first public appearance.
Several spy photos of 'disguised' 6th gen prototypes were taken on freeways near the Nissan facility in California, and appeared on renegade web sites in November, 2002. I'm sure they were also FWD, as the 6th gen was far too near production at that stage to even be considering RWD. Switching to RWD would be a MAJOR engineering change, requiring at least a year or two advance planning.
-------------------------
bluemaxx mentioned the smoke and mirrors hoopla about the 'anniversary' edition of the 5th gen. It will be very interesting to see how Nissan handles the anniversary deal this time.
-------------------------
CNJB - There will almost surely be no change from FWD for the 2006 Maxima. The third year of any Maxima generation has been one of fairly modest changes. A slight rearrangement of the chrome and deco on front and rear, maybe a tad more power, add a color, etc. But nothing really big.
-------------------------
97Se5spd - The increase in MSRP prices for the '06 over the '05 will be miniscule compared to the difference in actual selling prices.
As '06s begin arriving on the dealer's lot, he will begin giving very good deals on the '05s in order to clear them out and make room for the '06s. But deals will be much tougher to come by on the '05s the first few months. That is a long-time tradition with all dealers and all makes.
This will be especially true for the '06 model year, as, unlike the '04 to '05 changeover, where one could not tell one from another, there will be a slight 'appearance difference' between the '05 and '06 models, which will, as far as the dealer is concerned, quickly make the '05s 'passe'.
---------------------------------
04BlackMaxx - The competition Maxima faces is very stiff. As time goes by, things seem to change faster and faster. What used to stay in style for years now fades in months. I feel Nissan would be making a mistake to try to keep this body style more than four or five years.
The 6th gen went on sale in March of 2003. I would be most surprised and disappointed if Nissan tried to carry this 6th gen body further than spring of 2008 (which would be an early release of the '09 model). In fact, I expect the 7th gen to arrive in either spring or summer of 2007 as a 2008 model.
To carry this same body to 2010 or 2011 would tell me Nissan has conceeded this category to the opposition, and is planning to drop the Maxima, and I don't see that happening.

RHMax - We will just have to agreeably disagree. The press at the time pointed out the audacity of Nissan releasing its new flagship right in the heart of 'big three' country. As I recall, the LA show was shortly before the Detroit show, and the New York show was after the Detroit show.
I felt at the time that Nissan decided it might be better to show its new '04 in early '03, rather than late '02, and the Detroit show began on Jan 5th, 2003. As of January 4th, 2003, there was nothing officially available to the public on the '04 Maxima but one photo released by Nissan as a tantalizer the previous month.
I remember this because, being a Maxima fanatic, I spent hours on the net from May of 2002 until January of 2003 desperately trying to find pics of the '04, knowing I would be buying one.
As I said, being Maxima buddies, we can agreeably disagree and still smile as we ride down the road in our flagships.

More than likely Nissan will not keep this body style past the 6th generation, because the body changes every 4 years on the Nissan line, so the new body of the Maxima will come with the 2008 7th gen Max, which we will probably see in mid august or so of 2007. Hopefully they will be taking the Max AWD with the 7th gen Max.
