Cat Back / Y- Pipe

I've been able to locate a few Cat Back options for my ride, but I'm struggling to locate a Y-Pipe, unless it's custom built by some local shop.... Any ideas?

just wondering, does the y-pipe require bolting on or welding on?

When you call Custom Enterprise tell them you are a member of the org. You should not have to pay for shipping. They may be out of stock so tell them to put you on the list. Ask for Nick. Tell him Warren from Brooklyn said to ask for him. I just put 4,000 miles on my ride with the Y-pipe and sounds and performs great.. I have the Greddy SP-2 Cat-Back system but some ppl don't like because of the big pipes. Later Warren

Warren did you ever have your car Dyno'd again since adding the Y-Pipe?

I like the sp2 however I'm looking for something that appears "stock." Anyone have any suggestions? I heard that the Cattman has the stock look. Anyone have any pictures of it installed?

Y-Pipe

After searching through the forums and internet, I've come to realize that unless I go completely custom from a local shop, the only place to get a Y-PIPE would be from CE... I know we have one member that has ordered the pipe from CE and is happy, anyone else?

I think there are a few people with the CE pipe... Deus got one, ramberg (IIRC), Mystery_man, and a couple of others...

AFAIK everyone is happy with them.

I'm new here so please forgive this simple question but...who/what is CE?

I have a 2005 SE 6 speed that I would like to upgrade the performance of (as long as it doesn't void my warranty). It looks like the exhaust may be the only way to go right now (is there anything else even available for the late model Maximas?).

Thanks.

I have the Y-pipe installed I had told ramberg that I have got mines from CE. CE is just short for customenterprise.com it's a site dedicated to Nissan aftermarket parts. They have really good service and are affiliated with the ORG here. Depending on certain you purchase you get free shipping if you say that your an ORG member. I had my Y pipe installed for the past 2 months and I'm very pleased with the gains. It's best to get a CAI + Y pipe together to really get the true affect of HP gains. here is the link to where you can get the pipe: http://www.customenterprise.com/view...sd/scspid/4652

I just order my crank pulley from there. Hopefully it will be in next week....

CE = Custom Enterprise. They run banners here (which you probably should click on, even if you don't wanna buy anything ). I believe Roger and Greg post here regularly and have group deals going on all the time on different parts.

Thanks for the info!

I'm off to get a Jim Wolf POP Charger instead of a CAI. The reasons being:

1) The has been shown to make about the same HP as a CAI (CAI a little better)
2) The cost is less than half of the CAI
3) I don't like to take a risk of sucking up water and damaging my engine.

You see, I had a Ford SuperCoupe, and one day when it was raining and my wife was driving....long story short, water got sucked up through the intake and blew the engine....a $10,000 engine!

Also, I checked out the group buy forums but didn't see anything on a group buy of a Y-pipe for a 6-gen Maxima. Do these happen from time to time?

Thanks!

After doing a little digging it seems that using the CE Y-pipe will mean the loss of the catalytic converter and according to some will void the warranty so I probably won't go that route (I know, I could install the old system any time I needed it, but that's a pain).

Has anyone heard of anyone working on either a Y-pipe that allows keeping the cat, or a cat-back setup that keeps the look of the stock setup (dual pipe mufflers)?

I'm not a fan of the big mono-hole mufflers.

Thanks!

You are just removing 2 pre-cats, there is still the main cat remaining on the car....you will be fine, plus once the car warms up you will be good to go....

Wrong, you are removing the primary cat. The 2 precats are located in the exhaust manifolds which will be removed once a set of headers comes out.

I can barely add windshield washer fluid in 20 minutes!

Still, I might end up going that route as there isn't much more outside of underdrive pulleys that can be done right now, and living in TX I'm a bit worried that my battery would go dead since the AC is almost always on from April to October!

I would like to see some competition for the lone Y-pipe provider to drive the cost down a little. To me, $300 is a bit much for a little bit of bent metal. Of course, I am a bit cheap.

Maybe you should get a Optima Red Top or Yellow top Battery. It is supposed to be better than a OEM battery.

Your battery shouldnt go dead. Ive been driving my 04 for over 2 years in Tx heat with 49k miles and my battery is still going strong. Hopefully CE will do another group deal on the y pipe for 200 shipped soon.

Just to make sure, how long have you been running the underdrive pulleys?

Mate , these are 5th Gen headers not 6th... The only guy with anything close to a 6th Gen Headers is Cattman and his are for the Aussie/NZ Maxima and they don't quite fit the US 6th Gen.

There is a bloke selling SS 5th Gen headers on Ebay for like $ 225 including Y pipe , if you want to get a set and butcher them to fit .. go for it .. They will bolt up ok but the Y pipe part will need some serious work...

I have the same setup and I love the sound and feel, the sound is a head turner and I get lots of compliments. I like Greddy SPII Best, however there are members who installed megaflow (to each his own) however megaflow installs require cutting and welding because the stock exhaust is all one piece up to the CAT. I personally don't like the piece together type installs, I prefer all stainless steel front to back that is ALL bolt up, sized, dynoed, maintenance or repair friendly...

My friend Roy does have a great Megflow exhaust system just in case you do decide to go that route. Visit his cardomain site at:

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/636944

Check out his pictures and since he's an Org memer, PM him for specifics. Good luck...

Matterose is correct. A little over 500 dollars. Who would like to test these out?
