Automatic Headlights Sensitivity

We just got an '05 Maxima with the auto headlite option. The control screen allows you to adjust the point at which the sensor turns on the headlites, however neither this setting on the display screen nor the manual tell what the settings mean. The manual says you can set this auto light adjustment at 1 to 4, but no indication what 1 or 4 means.
Do the lites go on earlier (with less darkness) at setting 1 or 4?

I had the same question, so I tested it myself. 4 is the most sensitive, 1 is the least. After messing with it for a couple of days, it's back to 2 (default)

with 1.. it has to be REALLY dark to start... 2 is default...3 is with light outside... and 4 comes on when theres alot but not too much light... therefore 4 is sensative

Yep, but even setting 4 does not really work all the time on rainy days. I still have to turn them on manually.

So who has some time on their hands?

I'm looking for someone to write a nice Sticky about the personal settings like this that will fill in the large holes of missing info in the manual.

Many (w/ the options) don't know about this or the timer for the AUTO lights turning off, or the Auto Door lock, wiper speed, etc.

Whoever replies to this and want to, just go ahead and write it up in it's own thread. I will make a link in the Sticky and credit you fo rthe work.
Thanks.

Nissan, like many corporations favors the rich. There is an explanation of the sensitivity settings in the part of the manual that explains the dvd navigation system. I guess they only dedicated the required resources to the owners who spent more...

Wait a minute, I may have an auto door lock feature? How would I find out?

I think it was my 2000 Grand Cherokee that had auto lights that turned on if you had to turn on your wipers, I always thought that was a great option.

I know about the auto lock when you walk away from your car. Didn't know that there was an auto-lock while your in it, i.e. start the car and the doors lock as opposed to the turn off the car and walk away and forgot to lock the doors. I'll look through the settings and see if there is a lock when car is turned on or put into drive.

there isn't a lock while the car is on. if it locks while you leave your keys in and exit, it's a malfunction covered in the sticky. They do not auto lock while you are driving.

this is why i would like someone to write all this up.
