Grounding Kit

While I was shopping for my new suspension parts to lower my car, I ran across the grounding kit for the 6th Gens at active tuning. They make some pretty huge claims about it's benefits so I decided to give it a try. I only expected to get about half of the claimed benefits and I was not disappointed.

I installed it today and the first thing I noticed was that my windows roll up and down faster. This was particularly true of the rear windows. Previously, the rear windows were noticeably slower than the front. Now they roll up and down at about the same speed.

The second thing I noticed was that the transmission seem to be smother. Upshifts at moderate acceleration are less noticeable and downshifts are quicker.

Regarding horsepower gains, I'd say its about what you'd expect from adding a Nismo decal.

I can't speculate on any of the other claims such as better gas mileage. At this point I'd say that for the $40.00 and half-hour it cost me, the grounding kit isn't a bad mod. However, you can easily make your own with some 4 ga wire, ring terminals, and shrink wrap.

My mechanic gave me a voltage regulator to try, about $40 too(I think). The manufacturer claims increase power, better audio clarity, better MPG, smoother auto trans shift, etc. To me, it seems to reduce noise and hold charges for quicker start up, the gas mileage is a wait-and-see deal. I think a combo of the two (voltage regulator, and grounding kit) will help the electronics in the car. As far as performance goes, I'm with you on the decal.

you guys say the detailed install directions on the activetuning.com site right? Warren, for all your mods, I think this will be good fro you to have. I also only connected 2 wires so far. Some are hard to get to, and I'm waiting for if I ever have time.

The instructions do have one flaw. In the step shown here for the manual:

and here for the automatic:

The strut tower is referred to as the passenger's side. It is actually the driver's side.

The grille is coming The prototype has already been completed and is in the process of having a mold made. The mold we're hoping will be done next week. We're actually looking for a 6th gen in the Lake Mills/Madison, WI area to help us out with test fitting....so if you know somebody, tell them to contact us!

Nice! Can't wait to see it. Not sure who's from around that area but you can ship one my way if you want!! Are we looking like the S2 or S5 grill at all? Come on give us the juice on this thing!! I'm getting the new redline front bumper in 2 weeks, a new AT grill would finish the job nicely!!!

Ok sorry, I know....

Org brothers and sisters, today I went to the activetuning.com web site and checked out their great product. Reading through their detailed instructions I decided to go out and buy all the materials they use. Total cost $28.00, cut and crimped the 2G Ultra Copper Low Resistance (They use 4G which is MORE resistance) wire to the specified sizes and installed at each point also specified in the online instructions.

Sure it takes longer but F%ck, I did it myself. I even added a custom brass cross bar to lay them out verse stacking the leads. Thanks for sharing dudes and dudetts...

It has the effect of sending more electricity to ground at a faster rate. The only way we can tell the true benefits (windows rolling up faster, transmission shifting smoother, etc.) of the method Chern used versus the Active Tuning kit is to do a comparison of the two.

One thing is for sure...the kit Chern made looks hot.

We by all means support people doing it themselves if they want/have time to. Yours looks great!

For many though, it's not worth their time or cost. Most don't have the industrial crimpers, and then getting all the parts will get you fairly close to the price of the kit. But, if you can and want to, go for it! If not, our website is only a click away

As an added note, sometime within the next few weeks when we announce some of the updates to the kit, the price will also be increased to $49.99 shipped. The same will be done to all of the grounding kits we offer...as of right now it is still $40 though.

Thanks for the feedback, The first thing I noticed was the quickness of starting the engine and the smooth tone of the exhaust. I have an automatic, however driving to work today the engine seemed more responsive and yes (SURPRISINGLY) my windows did roll down faster??? Peace

Totally agree, It was time consuming getting the parts and luckily for me I do have all the tools and a garage, definitely not a sidewalk mod. Took me about 3 hours cutting, crimping, drinking beer, sanding/cleaning contact points, drinking beer, routing wires, tie wraping and cleanup followed by more drinking beer.

Activetuning has a superb kit and hands down I would have installed one in my ride, this time I went old school and felt like doing it myself. Excellent instructions, thanks again...
