Attempted MAXIMA Theft...Total Nightmare

I had a wonderful evening last night (and early this morning). I decided to give up my weekend to re-paint my showroom floor at my company because of a big show we are having in it soon. I was here real late last night (Friday 7/29), and at around 12:30am someone started banging on my big showroom bay door. It was the police. They told me that they saw someone "suspicious" around my office (more importantly...my Max) that ran off when he saw their squad car. I looked at my car, it was locked, and nothing was missing (SO I THOUGHT). I finished up my painting around 2:00am and got pulled out of my drive way. I started down the road and heard a loud clanking sound on the front of my car. I got out with my flashlight and discovered that I my left, front tire only have 2 lug nutz remaining and only one was on tight. Apparently the "suspicious person" was after my rims and tires...or maybe just my lug nuts??? I called a tow truck and told them I'd be at my office. I pulled out my lug wrench to torque down the one that was loose, and turned around to head back to my office. What I didn't realize was in the "suspicious person's" attempt to take the nuts off he completely stripped the wheel studs. I made it about 20'. Then....

This would be a cool looking suspension drop...if it were real!

And This morning...

I guess on the plus side, my Eibach Springs came in last week so I'm have those put on my car while its at the shop. Secondly, I finally have my reason to get my new rims (19"), since the "suspicious person " did a number on the rims finish.

Now that its over the only thing that frustrates me is that I didn't catch the "suspicious person " in the act. That would have been fun!

One more good note:

I need a vehicle until I get my car back from the shop. Luckily I was able to borrow my mom's Murano. This is a sweet car! It really moves for a little SUV (3.5L...baby). I've been looking at mods for this car. I don't think she would like it too much if I completely revamped her car, but some of the aftermarket mods are pretty sweet.

I'm sorry you were the victim in a senseless crime, but sooner or later the crackhead that attempted to steal your rims will get what's coming to him. One morning real soon, that same patrol officer will find that same crackhead with a split open skull, and a lugwrench beside his lifeless body. That's what we call "street justice".

I'm curious at what the cretins used that stripped the lugs or did they get damaged as a result of the wheel being so loose and the rotating rim turning and wobbling on them?
Glad your OK, sucks that you have to fix something as a result of some $hithead. The cops should have looked for a vehicle in the area; F%ucker wasn't going to haul all 4 wheels on his back. But hey, to the cops for watching out… Better they foiled the guy, vice helping you fill out a police report for stolen tires...

He obviously wasn't the smartest crack head in the world. I have know idea what he was using. The way my rim looks, it probably was a crow bar. Secondly, he needed to be really strong to pull the rim off without even lifting the car. I keep picturing "Tyrone Biggums" from Chappelle Show.

Shoot the guy, now, now New York, whe're not talking about Boston Fans. That's what insurance is for, busted knee cap, fork in the eye, a good slappin around are all better than sitting in jail practicing girly names while Bubba gets ready to own you...

That's probably what happened. I had someone retaliate on me one time by trying to take the lugs off my Cragar S/S rims. They got em all except for the lock, all the studs where shot and so was the rim from all the wobbling that took place.

Good thing you didn't get on the highway first. I wonder what the overall theft rate for the 6th gens are? Haven't really ever heard of one being stolen.

Wow! Man that really bites. I once had a simiilar issue with an old Mustang. Problem was that I started hearing a loud hollow rumble in the back end while going down the highway! Needless to say I pulled over and discovered that somebody had done the same thing to me.

It almost makes you want to do a walk-around before you get in the car each time.

THAT REALLY SUCKS!!!!

They should sell the locking lugs to cover the wheels better. (at least 3 on each wheel)
