AEM CAI video clip

http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=MOV002905739

I hope that worked.

Obviously it's not under load, but it still sounds good free revving.

looks clean~ is there any brackets that support the intake? or does it just hang freely in the wheel well

I like that red anodized look. I've been wanting to have my injen CAI anodized red, and that AEM look just gave me a little more desire to have it done.

Looks real good!

Actually on the second image there is a bracket that attaches to a provided rubber mount.

AEM was curtious enough to include a small rubber edge trim to prevent the intake from rubbing against the medal edge at the opening of the wheel well. You can see it directly behing the tubing on picture 3.

It actually looks like AEM designed this intake to fit the Maxima exactly. The one I bought for my 99 Civic Si looked like it was meant to fit the EX. It actually rubbed against the shock tower on the inside of the engine bay and I installed it by the instructions verbatim. I am sure they changed the design to fit later on.

Just like with the Maxima, I was modding my Si within weeks. I can't leave things alone, I guess like a lot of us on this forum.

Thanks for the props. Just like when I first bought the car at the end of May, I can't stop thinking of excuses to drive it. I get excited when I see a window down and try to give them a curtious sound of the Maxima with a CAI. LOL

Excuse the jumping around of my digital camera. I had to watch for troopers and hold the wheel at the same time. Enjoy

By the way, that is all intake, I don't have an exhaust yet. Yet.

I bought the intake, part #21-549 from Toysport (323) 755-1177 in Cali. He express shipped it to West Texas for $280, of which $40 of that was shipping. The suggested retail is $372.50.

AEM recommended them to me because they are right down the street from them. They only had limited quantities for the initial release. I am sure their will be more this week coming up. Also, I am sure they are not the only one selling it. PM me if you have any questions.

uh...shouldn't that huge duct in front on top of the radiator be removed? isn't it pointless now?

sounds great. I just installed the Injen CAI this past thursday. the AEM sounds pretty close to the Injen; I don't have the exhaust done yet as well.

Thanks. Are you waiting for the Cattman, too? I like the Greddy, but I want to see how the Cattman turns out.

Easy now, I am currently living in west Texas. I would be cleaning my car every hour from all the dirt around here. The first time I washed my old black 4-runner, it had dust all over it from sitting in the driveway within a hour. Thats one of the reasons I got a silver Max. I love black cars, but hate swirl marks and dust.

I am moving to northern Cali in less than two months. So hopefully it will be better there.

I actually felt it pulling a little harder this morning as the temp was around 68 degrees. It was definitely worth the money.

OK, I'll give you that one, working in El Paso, Texas several times sucked with all the dry heat and flying dust that seemed to get everywhere. Still love the AEM. Have a safe trip further out West... Still Respecting...

Which one are you having problems with? I just tryed them both and they worked. Maybe Putfile (hosting site) is having intermittent problems.

Im not much of a car guy.,.,,so thats why I LOVE reading all your posts on this org. I learn alot. But will a CAI really do anything by itself? OR do u need the whole package ( exhaust ect......) to see gains. The CAI sounds nice so I might want to get it but should I wait to get it with the exhaust? If I wait 4 the exhaust., id have to wait awhile to get the funds up, but dont wanna get the CAI for no reason either.

I bought the intake for the sound first, then the HP. Since I wasn't expecting much from it, I wasn't let down. Now I haven't officially dynoed it, but I can tell a slight difference by seat of pants. It's more noticeable in mid-rpms. I think a little torque was lost at low-rpms, but gained in mid to high just from feel as well.

By the way, I ordered the y-pipe and Greddy exhaust. I will be dynoing in Houston around the first week of September. I am going to take it to SGP Racing http://www.sgpracing.com/ (Kyle Puckett - '93 300ZX if that rings a bell or not). They do a lot of work with Nissans, so maybe he can recommend things. I will let ya'll know what the setup yields. I might even take it to Houston Raceway Park for a few runs.

so I guess you are not going to wait for the Cattman exhaust. what changed your mind?

I agree with your assessment on the intake. the Injen is about the same. full throttle and people know you are comin'

The price. I decided to get rims, so I needed to tweak the mod budget some.
