6th Gen Bra's

Ive had the misfortune of being stuck with an egg on my hood edge while driving. I dont know who threw it, and didnt anticipate paint damage at the time. There is a 3" long...egg wide area with little tiny chips and one big nick where the egg hit. I touched it up..but of course its never going to look perfect.

So I bought a Colgan "Sport Bra" (Just protects the hood area)

I looked on cardomain for pictures of Bra's on a 6th gen and nobody has one, Ramberg has one but its not a colgan I don't believe, and I didnt want a full bra.

If anyone's got pics of bra's Id like to see, It will probobly be a week before mine comes in.

I do alot of highway driving, I should have had one in the first place because this car does not resist chips very well, hopefully it won't take away from the look of the car too much, being Onyx and all.

Are you getting the bra to cover up the egg damage? Because if not try the new clear bra. Only problem with the clear bra is the install, it must be cut perfectly and stuck to the car perfect with out any air bubbles. Prof install cost over $150.

That sucks. My 6th gen is the first dark colored I'vd had in a while, I forgot how tough it is to keep clean of blemishes and dirt. BTW that's one hard egg.

I would suggest against full-time bra though! uneven color fade and scratches in long term use, especially on dark color.

Some guy here in Brooklyn wanted to charge me 300 dollars. I also heard if you have a accident its hard to come off. I took off the bra and tomorrow I am using a clay bar to clean the bumper up good and than put on Rain-X wax. I will wash off the bugs when I stop for gas on my trip to Florida next week. The car looks better without the bra. Warren

No matter where you live there are sc*mbags. I feel your pain. I painted my rear bumper twice ad the front bumper once. I think the car looks better without the bra... Warren

My friend in Florida made my new sig.

First off, I wasn't up in the Buffalo area. Next, it does $uck what happened, I tried doing a internet search but could not find one on a Max (like usual, only pictures of Altima's and 350Z). I don't think on a black car the bra would look too bad. The clear bra so far is superior, but pricey, and you definitely don't want to consider at this time till the damage gets fixed because you will just incase the damage. Good Luck...

Yeah exactly, I know I shoulda clear bra'd the car when I bought it...but i mean...the price is astronomical....so I risked it.

I am buying it to cover the damage (its not terrible, but its evident if you get close to the car) hence, thats why im only getting the hood portion.

I had a Colgan on my old car and loved it, best fit and finish around. I figure just on the hood will look fine, and I know about the fading issues and scratch issues...but its worth it to me to cover the blemish and prevent future nicks that expose the metal. I dont think anyone on here has a colgan hood bra, it was only $50, we'll see how she looks. Ill get rid of the mark, and have a little extra piece of mind hopefully.

Heck, maybe Ill like how it looks.

It is black so the bra like said by chernmax above wont look too bad. But i am starting to think twice about getting some protection up there too, i got someone that will install the clear bra for $100 In Norther VA so if you want it that bad let me know. All together you looking at about $300. Also ask your dealer that sold you the car and see if they will help you out on the price of getting the clear bra installed with them.

I have a Black 04 SE and had the clear bra on it for a couple of years now. It looks fine from a distance and has saved me from all kinds of chips and scratches. You can see it up close, but it really doesn't look too bad. Definitly recommend investing in it.

Example of upper and lower bra...

Just minus the lower one and that is what you get.

Is it just me or does the bra make the stock grill look a little bit better. Could be just me.

Thats kinda funny but I think it actually does because it hides it behind a mesh and tones it down...That one appears to be Lebra...I like the lines on the hood how its U shaped.

Yeah I actually looked around before and I found 2 other sites that quote
"Colgan sport bra's are made to order and may take up to 6 weeks for delivery"

Plus its paid for already, the most I could found on the item is that it has airfoils on it...so its gonna look different than the Lebra one and nissan one which were devoid of it. It looks good on 3 series BMW's IMO. Airfoils divert airflow away from the windshield. Too bad I gotta wait though.

Im just interested in seeing how it looks seeing that it interrupts the lines in the middle of the hood, but when I look at color-matched bra's they look pretty good, so I think this will too, especially just on the hood.

You guys would cringe if you saw all the white chips in my front bumper. I have at least 100-150. Had the front repainted and it didnt match good and it chipped like crazy. Im gonna have to find a worth painter in my area.

Not my car, just found the pic somewhere. Not sure what brand it is, could be OEM Nissan. I am sure they are easy to put on. I would never use one on a daily basis or during the rain.

I just had my front bumper painted and they did a great job. Bring your car to NY and we will get it done right. Warren

Well, All I know is that on my old car for 3 years, (silver 1996 taurus GL) It was Teh hotness IMO. Had LeBra on it for a year till the screen ripped and the fitment got all out of whack..then bought a colgan. Colgan has literal Fleece on the side that faces the paint and the outer material is heavier...Fitment was also dead on. Stuff did get under the bra over time (I never took it off). But nothing that couldnt be washed or buffed away. It never caused any rust on the hood or paint damage to the bumper.

Its too late for the clearbra, as I have too many small chips (albeit not visable from a distance) and Im not spending that kinda dough on it..or putting it over existing imperfections.

I used the bra in buffalo, year round....and it worked well....Im primarilly concerned with appearance I guess. Im probobly only going to have the car for another 3 years at most anyway.

My best way to rationalize it really is this...Is it better to look at a pitted front end thats only getting worse, or cover it up and care less about what it looks like under there because you can't see it anyway? BOTH methods get worse over time...you really cant win this battle...Im leaving the bottom uncovered though because it still looks pretty good. Its this stupid mark thats gotta be covered...

The bottom was the part to collect the most debris behind it bc the tires would send particles under it via the fender. If you maintain a good wax on the hood as I do, and did on my previous car, the moisture will not affect anything. Theyengineer these things to breathe.

Warren, I wish it hit the bumper...it hit the hood. Unfortunately. Actually My #1 choice would have been to have it hit the grille (scrambled egg)

Lets hurry up with the F'n CF hood!!!!

Ill want that thing 3M'd for sure

They make like 3 variations of the G35's, probobly more. Id much rather fork over $500 for that and get something cool than pay to keep her lookin like it was. You guys feel me on that?
