Nissannews.com info regarding the 2006 Maximas!

Hey all! Here is some information that many were waiting for regarding the 2006 Maximas. This information is as of 08/11/2005. Apparently, they were available for sale today! Doesn't seem to be many changes at all for 2006, with the exception of a Bluetooth Hands Free Phone System and illuminated steering wheel controls. For more information, check out nissannews.com for option packages and prices. Respectfully, Brandon.

(From nissannews.com)

"Nissan’s flagship sedan, the popular Maxima, continues to offer an unmatched blend of performance and luxury. For 2006, Maxima offers an available Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System (the first Nissan vehicle to offer this system), illuminated steering wheel control switches and available factory-installed satellite radio. Pricing for the 2006 Maxima is $27,750 for the Maxima 3.5 SE (6-speed manual and automatic transmission-equipped models) and $30,000 for the Maxima 3.5 SL 5A/T. The overall sales-weighted MSRP increase for model year 2006 Maxima is 0.9%."

i did see that they reported that July was the best Sales month Ever!! That's Good

All those mentioned didn't make me wish I'd waited. There will probably be some minor cosmetic changes. I did expect some increase in power, but guess not. I guess it's hard to improve on something this good

Nizzan - No way they make major mechanical modifications the third year of a generation.

In perusing the 2006 Maxima price sheet, things looked rather similar to the 2005 price sheet, with about a $250 or so increase in base prices.

In looking at the option price breakdown, some things I noted:

The '06 VDC/full size spare package is still $600, which means no standard VDC on the '06.

The '06 power glass sunroof is still $900.

The '06 premium audio pkg is still $1000 on the SE and standard on the SL.

The '06 sensory pkg is still $2350 on the SE, standard on the SL.

The '06 driver Preferred pkg is $3650 on the SE, and still $800 on the SL. These began as $3550 and $700 at the '04 intro.

The '06 Navigation sys is $1800 on both SE and SL.

The '06 Elite pkg is $4600on the SE, $1750 on the SL.

The '06 Rear spoiler is now $270 factory option for the SE, but is a dealer-only option on the SL.

The '06 18 inch chrome wheels are a $1550 factory option on the SE, but are a dealer-only option on the SL.

The '06 XM or Sirius satellite radio are $350 each on both the SE and SL.

The '06 Bluetooth hands-free phone is $300 on both the SE and SL.

Nothing really dramatic here.

But I still say there will be some cosmetic changes on the front and/or rear of the '06 that will make distinguishing it from the '04/'05 easy.

they might come out with anniversary edition later, all 2006 model doesn't have to be 25th anniversary edition. plus, I really don't think they will celebrate every 5 years. so expect anniversary edition in 2011.

i am satisfied with my 05 SL.

Just one question can the bluetooth be installed in an 05 or 04?

also they should have put the rearview camera option.

Yeah, they came out with a 20th Anniv. 5th gen at the very end of the 5th gens lifecycle. And then the 5.5s came out.

Good, for those who purchase vs. lease Its a great thing to not have any major changes when you decide to trade in.

They should have added more hp.

The '06 Navigation sys is $1800 on both SE and SL.

It doesn't even play DVD's. You can get a aftermarket system that does eveything cheaper.

Everyone memorizes what the steering wheel controls do anyway, its obvious they felt the need to do something for the new year.

Hopefully with the 06's they matched the steering wheel "brushed" plate with its interior.

My 05 steering wheel's brushed plate doesnt match the rest of my interior. The steering wheel is like the 04's interior trim.

Most likely yes but there will be some additional wiring that would obviously be needed, and I would assume, it would be just like having a dealer install a sunroof, take a couple of days (possibly) but almost guaranteed a stiff price... I assume your best (cheapest) bet would be to go to a trustoworthy aftermarket company and get the bluetooth accesories installed for much cheaper, Just my opinion!! But if you are one of those who prefer it is done with Genuine Nissan Parts, you should get a factory warranty and pay the difference

WTF? no major changes on te 06 max?

then what the hell was all that Teana mule testing about? I'm confused. It's a shame that Nissan just brushed off its flagship car's anniversary like it was nothing.

Since that teana testing happened so late(like a few weeks ago)... Could this mean they are just preparing for an early release 07 MAX? like how the redisigned 2005 altima came out in like early March2004.

I think that Nissan will introduce something in '07. They have to. With the M45-35 out and everything ele creeping up on it's rear, they have to either offer more hp or an awd option. I do like the sound of the subtle changes in the '06. The steering wheel needed lighted buttons and the bluetooth option is sweet too, since I have a bluetooth phone, I would have gotten that. Since I'm now in the ram, I do not regret my decision on the trade. We'll see what happens in '07.

We might see a cosmetic refresher in 07, (Grille I hope, Ill buy one if they do soemthing good)...but I would'nt expect a "7th gen" till this car runs 5 yrs...seems to be consistent.

Yep, my M45 has the exact same tires as my Max ... 245/45 - 18 RSA's. I personally like the tires. They've been good for me in terms of wear, wet traction, etc., but I'll say this: they are a helluva lot quieter on my M than on my Max, which tells me it's a matter of sound deadening more than just tire noise.

The Sport version M's have 245/40- 19's, and I think they're Bridgestones ... maybe SO3's. One thing I do know - they have a treadwear rating of like 140, so don't expect to get too familiar with them if you have the Sport!

Just as I expected, no major changes for 06. Oh well.

It's odd though, they didn't add at least a backup camera option, or MP3 to the stereo system.

The RSA's are good tires, I know goodyear has the issue of sidewall cracking, however if you look at the hundred thousand + RSA tires made and still being made, I think Goodyear solved the problem. I checked my RSA's every week untill I slapped some BF Goodrick g-force KDW-2 tires on my ride. Had 13K on the goodyears and had them inspected at 2 different tire places and both times the tire shops said they where in excellent condition with over 2/3 tire life left. The RSA's do have a bad rap, and it will take time for the dark cloud to be totally lifted, I for one was extremely happy with the RSA's...

but the RSAs are still extremely overpriced. they are in the Pirelli and Michelin price range with ratings far below. They are even rated lower by Goodyear than the Dunlops I replaced them with under warranty which were cheaper.

I have had problems with RSA tires twice. There is a tread about them. I have F1's now and the are great. A lot less road noise and holds to the road better when it rains.
