Maxima to be hybrid
Maxima to be hybrid
While googling for some plug-in hybrid info for the Prius (more info: http://www.calcars.org ), I stumbled across this page:
http://www.hybridcars.com/altima.html
Of most interest is the following quote:
Could Nissan be applying similiar hybrid tech to the Maxima that they'll be featuring in the Skyline in 2008 (ie, focus on higher performance more so than lower emissions)?
Anyway, I have no idea when this article was written but it was interesting.

Of most interest is the following quote:
Instead of focusing primarily on fuel economy and reduced emissions, Nissan will try to match the performance and acceleration of non-hybrid models. “Most hybrids focus on smaller engines with environmental benefits like emitting cleaner exhaust fumes but Nissan’s hybrid will also have the same driver performance and speed as any Altima,” said Kyle Bazemore, Nissan communications senior manager.
Jack Collins, director of product planning for Nissan, said, "This is an area of opportunity to bring new people into the Nissan franchise, as we make our lineup stronger and add hybrid offerings now in the pipeline with Altima and Maxima."

Yeah, from the article it sounds like Nissan might place a higher measure on improving performance rather than lowering gas consumption (actually, this would still probably give better performance/gas consumption though).
I've read that the Skyline will be a "hybrid", but again not so much for saving gas but getting more torque... a lot different than a Prius or Insight.

I honestly don't car how the future Max is powered, so long as the handling and performance characteristics keep improving, saving money on gas would just be a double bonus...

My conclusion to your babbling, compare the 2 cars. Not a coupe versus a sedan. 2005 Hybrid v6 Sedan versus a 2005 v6 sedan, then your argument will have some weight or at least quote the same mag, Not Modern Racer

-Not a fan of exploding Skyview roofs

Get the sunroof
-squeeking parts and windnoise
Haven't experienced either, and that's the first I've read about someone mentioning anything about windnoise.
-Radios not working
Hadn't heard that either.
-Design has lost the 4DSC feel
Hell, that's a selling point.
-Mainly the crappy Nissan Customer Service...
Varies from dealer to dealer. The local Honda place here in Waldorf sucks like Jenna.

I love my Max... it's so rare.
Hey savage, you convienetly ignored his point about all the times posted by mags in the high 14's while we have 2 members almost breaking to 13s.

when you're logic is proven wrong (Mags are not all possible fact) you try another arguement. Even the mags will write a correction section when proven wrong (although minute and hidden). You just seem that admitting you're wrong on any subject means death or something.

Yeah, I've seen the timeslip for the 13.2 (I think) sec 6th Gen. I've also read where that type of machine is maybe - maybe - off for the 0-60 and 1/4 mile by at most 0.1 seconds. It's still impressive. My goal is under 13. I don't care if it's 12.9999999999999999999999999999 - I get bragging rights for having a 12 second Maxima.

I want to race where you race at.
I66 is a very nice stretch, but stay out of the HOV lanes too many cops
