Weighed the wheels today/rotated

Nothing exciting, just looking to see if these tires are any lighter. I know this is an odd thread, but its not in the stickies...

I rotated my wheels and got the chance to put the tire and wheel on a scale. I got a reading of 56 Lbs....I don't remember when or where, or if its accurate, but I think I heard the OEM wheel/tire is 60+Lbs or something?

If anyone knows what the RS-A's on OEM 18's weigh, id like to know. Im sure someone knows. thanks

How much tread is left on that tire? That could account for some weight.

From the RSA's specs @tirerack.com, the goodyear is about 27lbs.

I understood the stock rims to weigh 29 pounds. This appears consistent.

Ok, I was wrong then, I thought for a moment these F1's weighed significantly less than RS-A's. Winter is coming though, so Im going to get some snows on the stock rims and put the F1's on a set of Weds Sports on Tirerack....or ill go the cheaper route and get Rota's. Rota Sub-z's will bring it to about 46Lbs.

Ill weigh a rim and tire I have but my rim is supposed to weigh 19 pounds or so. It sure feels lighter when mounting them.

You should put on tank treads with all the snow that you get in your home town.

I know, and we are in for a lake effect heavy snow winter because lake erie is like bathwater! Nothing was crazier than the winter of 2001 where we had something like 6 feet of snow fall in a few days, the NYS thruway here literally had a montain of snow on the median which exceeded the heights of the bridges and overpasses, it was unreal to drive down the thruway, it was like a white tunnel (even though it was closed, I had to anyway for my job) Anyway, maybe Ill see it again here this winter. Ive already picked out the tires im going to get, ContiSportContacts all season for $150ea. tirerack. If I feel I wanna go with snows its going to be the Dunlop SP snow sport or whatever its called for $219 per tire.

Mind you I ran RSA's through snow that was so deep it came over the nose and hood, they were satisfactory to me, so I know if I get the Conti's they will be even better, not as good as the snows, but the poll's show its pretty close and ill save almost $300.
