HELP 'KLUNK and THUD" when I start my car
Hello Fellow 6th Gen owners. Odd sound has started with my baby the last couple of days. When I start it, there is a "KLUNK" coming from the engine bay. It sounds like a motor mount issue...but I am not sure. Anyone else hove this "thud" when you start the car? What is it? It does not happen all the time, just once in a while and it is driving me nuts. Just a quick sound at start up and it is gone.
Thank you in advance

Nismo is correct in that this should be a problem for the dealer.
But problems that 'happen once in a while' are the toughest ones with which to get help from most dealers. They want to see the situation recreated before their very eyes.
From your description, this sound happens instantly, before you have time to put the car in gear or take your foot off the brake pedal. You are correct that it could possibly be a motor mount problem.
I also gather from your description that you see no correlation between whether the car is hot or cold, or the weather hot or cold or wet or dry, or whether the front wheels are turned or straight.
You might open the hood and have a friend/spouse/etc start the car a few times each day until you hear the clunk. Try to see if the engine jumps, jerks or moves any differently on a 'clunk' start than what you would normally see. Try your best to see if you can at least determine the general area of the engine compartment from which the clunk is coming.
I realize this is not much help. But it often is an advantage if one can narrow the problem down to where the dealer has an area to concentrate on.
Let us know what happens.

Thank you lightonthehill for your detailed opinion. Going to any NISSAN DEALERSHIP can be a real pain. I have tried 4 inthe Toronto area and one is worse than the next. I have called 3 and described this concern and they all said to bring it in as there is no history of this problem they are aware of.
There is no pattern with respect to hot and cold, it just happens once and a while.
I will let you know what happens, have a great weekend

I have the same problem but only when I start the car after it's been sitting for a while. I start my car it makes that noise like a heat shield rattling but in the engine bay, then i put it in drive step on the gas and same noise then its gone, No more til tomorrow morning. Bringing it to the dealership will be hard for me because it will never happen again unless its been sitting for a long while and I can't afford to leave me car over night for them to check it out.
