6th gen ride

I own a 5.5 gen and the 6th gen caught my dad's eye. He likes my car but finds the ride is a bit firm (GLE 17s). I understand that the 6th gen comes with 18s, so how is the ride in terms of firmness? Could any ex 5.5 gen owners chime in as well to compare?

SL's come with 17's, he might like the ride better than SE's.

SL would definitely feel better, however you can still get an SL with 18's as an option and the ride would still feel great just so long as he doesn't drop it on Eibachs, Coilovers, etc...

The SE has a sport tuned suspension which rides kind of stiff. The SL is a lot more comfortable. If you are not looking to hug corners at a high speed the SL is the choice. Like chern said dont try to upgrade the suspension to lower the car it will start to ride like an SE.

I used to have a 5th gen se and moved on to the 6th gen se, and let me tell you that the 5th gen se is floaty compared to the 6th gen se..

if your dad is looking for comfort, don't get the se.. he would have to get the sl that comes with a softer feel and the 17's with more rubber on them..

you can get the sl with the 18's off the se, but that defeats the purpose of having a soft ride..

being me I have always gotten se maximas since my very first and I like the sporty stuff it comes with..

belive me when i say the 5th gen is floaty vs the 6th gen man..

The SE is great on good pavement...I only notice the harshness on harsh roads.
