All Hail Maxima

Well it is a sad day for the Maxima today.

Driving along about 60km hour and was wiped out by hail stones.
Pulled over under a tree and they kept on comming and shreaded the tree then the car.

They were the size of a tennis ball by the end of it and I was just waiting for the windows to smash in.

Net result about 20 dents in every single panel on the car.. even the door window chrome trims have dents.

I hope they write her off .. Nobody is going to be able to return the paint and damage to factory quality and it's going to be full of BOG filler otherwise.

HAIL STONES SUCK BIG TIME...

Happy to stay with Max's .. will have to wait and see what the insurance company will do ( I have an auto replacement policy with a new car for 2 years from new in the case my car is written off), about 5,000 cars damaged around my area , so it may take awhile .. at least it's driveable..well shamefully so anyhow..

Damn. That sucks my friend. After all the work that you have done its a shame. The main thing is that you were not walking at the time.

Do these hail storms happen alot down under?

Let us know what happens.

Peace

That S%ucks big ******, glad your fine, when you get a chance, get some pictures up. We in the US also have hail problems, same thing happened to my buddy, his Nissan Pathfinder had a fender bender here in Maryland USA, his truck was parked in an open are lot awaiting fixing, a big hail storm came in and put like 200 dents in the bugger. So the vehicle went from replace the bumper to total the vehicle. He now drives a new Nissan Titan...

Im sorry to hear about that. I know EXACTLY how you feel right now. I had the same thing happened to my Max last February. It had maybe between 20-30 dents!! But it worked out for my good though! I had the insurance co. estimate the amount of damage for my max and my wife's Altima. We got checks for $1500++ each(estimate was at $2000++ minus our $500 deductible), went to the dealer who hired an outside job to fix their cars in the lot, got quoted (after much haggling...) $1,100 for mine and $1000 for my wife's, so we pocketed $800++ without shelling out anything, and used that to buy a Magellan 700 navigation system for my wife's Altima! I hope you'll get something good out of this!

hmm............

Oy Mate!

if the stealsurance company is going to buy you a new one can you grab some parts from yours? I remember you saying you had a ton of custom parts for it, maybe they would fit our cars?? If so are you willing to sell anyhting from it?

When my first Oldsmobile was stolen by some teenagers a long long time ago, the insurance co. gave me the opportunity to go and take everything I wanted out of the car before it was sent to the junk heap. Well i took everything my uncle and I could dissasemble. Right down to the drive axles, only thing that was left in the Olds was the engine and transmission. I still have the old sony radio out of it chilling in the garage.

If you can, you have an opportunity to make some money on your loss.

Good luck Dundee

We mourn with you,

Kam

I may stick with black .. subject to what is around .. Got told not to bother rushing to the Panel shops as there are 100 people in line before me waiting for a repair quotes.

Spoke to a Panel shop today ..they were of the opinion that every single panel on the car need to be replaced except 2 door skins..

I am worried that if they do that, I will have a never ending squeeks and rattles all over the place..

Pictures soon..

That sucks big time man. The same thing happened to the Nissan dealer near me when we were about to buy the 2004. I was wondering why there was a bunch of 2004's in the used car lot already, so I asked and the dealer told me they were repaired after a hail storm. That must of sucked for them big time. At least you're alright and they didn't go through your window.

It is quite strange you don't see the dents in pictures ? ?? must be the colour of the car.. they are all over the bonnet and roof and doors and front and rear guards and the boot... vary between 1mm to 10mm deep and up to 2-3 cm wide

you need to have something reflect across the dents. try to get those powerlines or other staright objects that will bend with the dents.

If it is sunny tommorow will try to get some better pictures which show the drama.. There are at least 20 dent in the bonnet and about 15 on the roof alone.

Insurance company has started the bastard act allready requiring all hail damaged car to be seen first by paintless dent removers before they go to the Panel shop..

Your Insurance company must be a secret investor in paintless dent removal shops... Oh well, no harm in trying as long as the quality is up to YOUR standards for the completed work.

yes welllllll

Got all the quotes done , paintless dent removal and then the normal panel shop and come to over $8000 ... but wait there's more ...

Ummmm... booked in to be repaired in March 2006.. I am number 786 in the line at the Insurance companies preffered panel shop..

Rang around and it's very much the same with all the big good panel shops within 80km. Guess Xmas came early for them guys... and will keep on well into the new year..

Guess I shall keep on keepin on makin my black golf ball statement for awhile.
