Light grinding from engine

Can anyone here tell me if they've had this problem? At exactly 2500 rpm my engine is making a light grinding type of noise. It's only at 2500 rpm when I have my foot on the accelerator. Anyone know what this might be? Thanks for any help. By the way, I have an automatic SE.

I don't know what is is but I would go directly to the dealer. It will be covered under warranty.

I'm definitely taking it to the dealer this weekend. Everyone I've talked to can't really think of what it could be. I guess I'll see soon. I think I'll also have them check out the rattling my sunroof makes ever since they fixed a drainage problem I had. Bastards.

Grinding noise? Sounds scary. Better be at dealers as soon as you can.

I had a similiar noise. Mine was most noticable right at 3k rpms, although i heard it before and after that. Do you hear it while you are in neutral or park?

MIne turned out to be a broken air intake valve, or soemthing like that. Dealer ordered the part - should be coming in soon.

I've so far heard it while driving and keeping it steady at 2500rpm. I'd assume it would do the same thing in Neutral or Park, but I have yet to check that out. Just talked to the dealer and she's going in on Saturday.

could be one of the heat shields under the car, usually over the cats....when they get loose they make a grinding noise.

The TSB link is 2004-2005 NISSAN MAXIMA AND QUEST; EXHAUST RATTLE / BUZZING NOISE PRESENT DURING ACCELERATION

I had the same problem 3 months ago!

looking at the tsb

now looking under my car...i was able to see the cracks

When idling it would not do that or when coasting would not do that either. but as soon as you tap on the gas at about 2K-3K it starts rattling. Its a 8-10 piece that the stealership will replace for free. I did it myself, was a ***** to get under the car without a lift. so have them replace it.

I had grinding. Soon after tranny blew, TQconv wouldn't lock. It was replaced. If the noise is something that always happens go to the dealership asap and have them diagnose it.

It did end up being that exhaust bracket. Apparently it was cracking and they said a number of Maximas were brought in with the same problem.

but the thing that sucks is that they are replacing it with the same piece. eventually that will break again.

I hope that what your are saying is not the case. It wouldn't make sense for Nissan to replace a defective part with another defective part. Doing so would just make for more service costs that might have to be absorbed by Nissan. Do we know if it was the bracket per se (metallurgy, design, or whatever) that was the problem, or was it that the original installation was not done correctly, which led to detachment from the mounting points, and then vibration/breakage.
