Mounting a Front License Plate

Hi kids... sadly I moved from Florida back to Virginia tis summer. It was a nice year+ in the sunshine state but money calls. So along with a new job I have new legal driving requirements. The first of which is my tint. After that, I have to mount a front plate. I was wondering if anyone here has mounted a front plate that wasn't predrilled from the factory or dealer. Do those of you with front plates have a mounting bracket or mounting frame from Nissian? Please let me know. I need to do it ASAP and I have put it off to long.

A nissan dealer may be your best bet, I have however seen front license brackets (generic types) at places like Autozone, Autobacs, other auto parts places like that, drilling may be hard to get around, however a good double stick tape like used for car emblems and ground effects kits may also work in your favor. I also lived in VA (MD now, need front plate also), I hated the tint and NO radar detectors laws. Good luck...

Front License Holder

When we got our Maxima the front license holder and mounting screws were in a package in the trunk. I thought that this was an extra rear plate holder and that the dealer had put on his own, but then I realized that there was no front plate. Either the package or the owners manual had a procedure for mounting this plate. I remember that you took a certain sized drill and drilled two holes in the dimples set into the front bumper, then mounted the plate holder. If you, like me, couldn't bring yourself to drill into the face of your new car, I'd bring it to the dealer. They'll have the correct mounting kit.

If you have the mounting kit still, just pre-measure the holes from the holder and then measure and drill the holes on the front bumper. (I cringe thinking about drilling through the car!)

Its the law. Va. highway cops are scu*bags. He would get a ticket everyday.

One of them stopped a caravan of NYC police officers in their police trucks driving down to LA. to help out because they had their flashing lights on.
Now that sucks.

I don't know how long you will be in VA. but since its the law you have to get that plate on. If you move to another state and only need one plate plug up the holes and give it a paint job.
My 2 cents.

That's my outlook. My car came from Oklahoma where they don't require it. Since Texas does, I'm going to take the chance. I just roll down the windows if there are cops around. Typically Texas cops won't pull you over for tint or front plate, they will just cite you if you get pulled over for speeding. Since I am on deferred adjudication right now and I don't speed anymore, hopefully it won't be an issue.

Scott.

Why would you even take the chance when you have this hanging over your head?

I hate 2 plate laws, had to put one on the front of my Camaro. I used velcro so I could remove it when I moved to another state. Some velcro and you are set. Just a suggestion on what I did. No hole drilling for me and you are still and compliance.
Total cost.....99 cents.

Yeah, I re-thought this after I posted. Not very bright. As soon as I get my plates, I'm going to get the plate kit.

I had to drill the holes myself with a 10mm drill bit..luckly my neighbor worked for snap-on so i had the parts. it was a bit** and I was so afraid of messing up my car. Anyways..it's a pain doing it yourself (however Maxima vs truck got me a new bumper and side skirt so the body shot did the second one which looked much better than mine)

I got a question about the rear plate (didnt want to make a new thread). Does everyones rear plate line up on all 4 screws? I can only get either the top 2 or the bottom 2 to line up. Hate closing the truck since the damn plate rattels. Any ideas?

Just take something and pad the back of the bottom side. For example the soft side of velcro strips. It comes with glue on it and everything. Just clean the inside of the plate very well before you put it on.
