Max has a mind of it's own!!

OK, I wasn't sure whether to make a new thread for this but I didn't want to hijack anyone else's so anyways here we go...

I was washing my car and I went to clean the inside drivers side door window, I leaned on the door pushing it open as far as it would go (right when it rebounds back) and the doors all locked? So I pushed on it again to see if that was what caused it and sure enough they lock down again, do it a couple more time because I'm tripping out on this and then my front windows both rolled down??? Can someone check to see if their car does this? Maybe it's some weird Nissan feature? Either that or it's something to do with my Clifford alarm? Someone please confirm either way before I lose it!!!

Nothing happens with mine, either.

You must have a bad electrical connection in this door. If you are still under warranty, take it to the dealer.

Did you have your keys in your pocket? The locking button is next to the button which if held down, will roll the windows down. Could be very likely that it was wedged against a key in your pocket and was messin with ya. Just a thought...

I did that the other day and realized I was leaning on my keys that were in my pocket. It tripped me out at first then I saw my problem.

Wait a minute...what kind of remote do you have that rolls the windows down? Is this a feature I never knew the Max had?

Oh yea...JSmith, you car is possessed. Bring to a Catholic priest, who is a motor head, for exorcism.

with the oem remote:

all the maxes have this.... just press and hold the unlock button and your windows will roll down, if you want them to stop just let go..

Either put your key in the door or roll them up from inside. No way of doing it from the keyfob.

"hold the lock button for few seconds as you're spinning, jumping, etc.." you get the idea..

if you have an alarm, you can get that feature added to it.. is called a "window roll up module". they have it for the viper, crimestopper and some DEI alarms..

I think I had a site that would be able to work with the factory alarm, but I must have deleted it off my book marks..

I found out this weekend that you do not need a separate module if you want this feature with only the front windows because this is already a part of the Max's automation. I just got a Clifford 3.5 installed and my installer set it up so that I can roll my windows up and down with the remote. One shop I went to said that I would need the modules because they had to bypass the built-in automation. Either their installer was ignorant or it was just their BS attempt to get more money.

Jay,
at first I thought maybe you're piching a wire. If not it may be your alarm. Either way, I fear the dealer will pull the MOD card and deny warranty.

Who installed it? Have them look at it first to warrant it.

here we go....

btw, you really think Nissan's engineers are so dumb to not think maybe, just maybe we would like a roll up feature? Um, do ya think Nissan might have some forsight to prevent possible lawsuits when someone rolls them up remotely and a passenger gets injured? or that there may possibly be litigation against such a feature?

anyway, it's a small feature I would hardly EVER use and happy I didn't pay $50 more for it. Just mod it yourself.

Is there any way to set my doors to lock shortly after I put the car in gear and take off? I had this safety feature in another car and I wish my 04 Max had it...

cant believe u fell for this one !! lol !!

luigi

im back......
Umm, believe what? you never remotely rolled your windows down?

zr3cherokee,
not a feature. All the max can do is relock the car if it is unlocked and not opened. See Sticky for all possible features (if you bought the packages).

Jay, try 10 hail marry's and get it to the shop, I do suspect it is a result of your alarm vice OEM configuration....

Nice, that's why I mine don't roll up/down, they told me I needed the modules so I waited! Who's knows ignorance or rip off I'll never know now!

Yeah I'll take to the place that installed the Clifford first (maybe they've figured out the window thing, it was the first 6th gen they had worked on at the time) and see what they say.

Thank for all the input guys!!!

Quite an interesting thread... Just wondering if maybe it would have something to you washing your car and some exposed wires...

I had a 4th gen. max that when the door sil switch (the button that lets the car know that the doors are shut and what-not) got wet it would make the alarm go off multiple times.

I didnt by my car from a nissan dealer, and i was locking unlocking my door, and noticed if i left it turned my windows rolled down.. I was like, WTF!! But then realized it was part of the built in features.. AWESOME!! Ill have to check if my remote does it.. thanks for the update..

Hey, I am pretty sure that it is just the wires that your installer ran for your doorlocks. The wires have to run into the door and so when you open the door all the way it must be pinching a wire. Look at your door boot (where the factory wires are ran from the door to the car) and make sure that the alarm wires are going through it. Some installers will just take a shortcut and run it on the outside of the boot or even behind it to conceal the wires.

If the alarm wires aren't run in the door boot, just make sure they do that this time around.. Good Luck
