Touch-up Paint - '05 Max - Liquid Silver

I have an '05 Maxima - LIQUID SILVER - KY1 (light silver)

I've never had to apply paint to a car but I need to touch up a small area with some new paint - estimated at 1-2 square inches on my back bumper - where can i get a small amount of paint to touch it up and what is the exact color (is KY1 a color code?)

I don't mind buying a whole pint even though I need much much less

You can get it at the dealer. A small bottle with brush included is about $9. And Tek is correct, it isn't much better than a band aid. I had to use some because of this

The after pics aren't even worth posting.

so the only permanent solution is a complete repaint of the bumper?

I hope to buy an aftermarket bumper and will just save my money until then. In the meantime I used the touch-up paint to at least cover the black parts that were exposed after that bolt hit my car. While the touch up paint isnt the best looking it is better than nothing.

TouchUp Paint

Like was said before...it depends on the type of scratch and how it is applied. Touch up paint tends to work ok on small nicks rather than bigger areas. Plus it all depends on the angle of the panel that you are working on...on whether it will be relatively hidden..or stand out like a sore thumb. Unfortunately the back bumper is such a large area...and such a verticle area that touching it up will stick out...but it is better than nothing.

i can try to take a picture this weekend - it's on the bottom right of the bumper where it was backed into an angle very slightly - there is no dent - just no paint in a small line anymore

does anyone recommend either

1/2 oz. bottle with 'brush in cap' applicator

or

9 ml. Dual Tip Paint Pen one tip is clear coat, and other tip is paint

i can see black where paint used to be

Omar you may want to to order this

http://www.langka.com/

it is a application kit that helps "smooth out" and "blend" factory touch up paint.

I have ordered it for my 2004 Maxima (winter frost) and it works great!!!

yea touch up paint definatly isnt the best, but when applied correctly to a small inconspicuous area, it looks better than a discolored chip or nick...

Take it to one of those paintless dent removal shops. They can probably spray a small area over and around the nick and blend it in much cheaper than a full bumper repaint.

ok this thread jinxed me, today i was installin my trenz grille and it scratched a tiny piece of the front bumper that if the stock grille was on you wouldnt be able to see it. I used the spirited bronze touch up from the dealers, coded ky2....holy crap the color match is terrible

I drive some highway miles to and from work. It must have go launched from someone's tire straight into my grill. Crazy huh? I've never seen anything like that. Just glad it didn't hit my windshield.

i used touch up paint, and it looks worst, and sometimes even more obvious with it. but if its a real small area, then go ahead
