Want a litle more.....

I would like to get a little more out of my Max, but I don't want it loud. If I had that stupid resenator and flat pipe removed and put in a less restrictive pipe and kept the stock mufflers would it get much louder? Thanks.

Noticeable, but not like after market exhaust systems or mufflers.

I read the stickys but didn't find the actual answer I was looking for. Although there is some really good info in those stickys, I have used them for taking apart my dash. Thanks, Rich.

I've heared the resenator removed with stock mufflers and it sounds like you have bees in the can..

nismo80 can also confirm this...

I can also confirm this. It gives the exhaust a buzzing sound. Not worth it.

No bee sound here.

I have the CE-Y pipe, resonator removed, new pipe from Y pipe to mufflers and sound difference is neglible until I stand on it. Then it is more of a howl than anything else. Sure is more pleasant than loud mufflers all the time.

its weird you guys say it don't sound like that... even the owner of the max i'm talking about said he didn't like the sound..

it sounded good at low rpms, but made a noice when bouncing off redline.. the noice isn't bad or anything just not a low noice like an exaust should be..

Mine sounds just like an exhaust should sound when winding up the motor, unless you put open mufflers on it. Don't knock the setup unless it's on your car.

Not sure of anyone else, but my Greddy SPII, Y-Pipe and Injen CAI is louder, however more throaty toward an Formular-1 sound, never ever has my car sounded like those annoying ricer bees in a can...

I had the setup for a while before I got the sp2 a year or so ago and it really does have a sputter/buzz when coming off redline. Dont have that sound anymore.

for about 2 weeks I had just the resonator removed and replaced with striaght pipe, no bee buzing sound at all, the sound was changed barely at all. Then i put berk intake and it sounded great, once I added the CE Y pipe, it was a wrap, I love the way the car sound, similar but not exactly to the G when driving normally and when pounding on sounds like a beast.

I viewed the general consensus on Maxima.org to be that aftermarket exhaust systems do very little to increase horsepower or anything. So I took the cheap way out and just swapped the stock mufflers with magnaflows. Probably not as loud as the Greddy's and what not, but there is still a difference in sound. Just enough to keep me happy and not enough to wake up the neighbors when I pull in at night. Plus they look a little sharper than the stock mufflers in my opinion. Just a suggestion to anyone looking for a more economical way of changing the look and sound of your mufflers.
