Love it

I love my auto stick and I use it all the time. Even though it is built in the car stock and its meant to be used often, does anyone know if it will do harm to the transmission if used TOO OFTEN? I mean, I know its designed to be used as manual obviously, but I am curious to if there is a point where using it too often will end up hurting the car in any way...

I rarely use mine.....I know the Max is a fast car, but I don't believe its a race car also....I do occasionally put the ricers' in-check from time to time......

auto stick sux.
it shifts just like a regular automatic (very slow) and also up/down-shifts automatically...(ie. when im decelerating, it downshifts, when it reaches redline, it upshifts.)
only merit of it is .. It helps my transmission and engine wear out quicker.

I finnally confirmed the autostick, I raced my friends max while I was in D and he was in Tiptronic ( letting the car shift automaticly when reaching close to redline) and I even hit my gas slightly before him so i had a small head start, and his car blew by me.

I dont know why you revved it first and then went, lol. That was kinda gay. But I loved hearing that VI open up around 4500-5000 rpms.

So does it mess up the engine if you keep using it 24/7?

I'd say the tranny would get the brunt of the wear and tear ... still don't think it would cause too much trouble.

I use it fairly often, just to hold a gear a bit longer or downshift before passing.

I must second one of the other replys. i mainly use it to decelerate. i hate how it wont let you up shift when you want. i was told that the tranny is controled by the valve body, and it wont shift up until there is enough pressure. thats lame. i drove a TL before and it shifts into second from a stand still. however it does come in handy for slowing down and saving some braking. and downshifting to get away from those pesky big muffler hondas that think they can hang with a Max.

interesting..i would have thought that switching to it while the car was already in drive would cause some type of issue...don't know much about transmissions though. do you guys typically move it into manual mode when you are stopped, or switch it back and forth from manual to automatic while driving?

you can move it back and forth at will. however i do notice that the rps go down a bit when you move it to auto from autostick in 5th gear.

almost never

I have used the autostick only a few times. I understand from others' posts on this thread that there is an acceleration boost by using the autostick. If so, I appreciate having that available, but my driving style is not such that I need the acceleration performance boost.

The engine and transmission come in to their own for me when passing other traffic on two-lane highways. I can quickly zip around slower vehicles with confidence.
