Those of you with the 5 speed auto-stick, when do you use it most often?
I hardly use it since the car has enough power already.

I use it all the time, there is a definite difference in power. The auto stick allows you to feel the true power of the car. There is nothing like dropping it into third on the highway and punching it, the car just launches.

I don't use it that often, but I do use it occasionally. I especially like to use it when i'm in some moderate traffic and some idiot rolls up on me wanting to race or test my ride. I simply slip it into neutral and give it a nice rev. Without question, with the engine mods I've got so far, it quickly gets their attention. At that point I'm pretty positive they are wondering what in the world does he have in there. Then I casually slip it into manual mode and get up next to them in 1st and give it a nice stomp to the pedal. The low-end torque and sound eminating from the engine and exhaust lets them know that they ain't messing with a regular max. Usually the race never materializes, but the looks on their faces when a pimpin 4 door sedan is growling at them like a beast, needless to say, "PRICELESS"! I would elaborate on the races I've had, but I hear you get banned for that...........LOL PEACE OUT

I use it occasionally when I really want to feel it launch. I only wish the auto-stick was to the left and not the right of the "D". Its kinda too far away to the right, it would feel sportier, more 6 speed like, if you pulled it to the left to engage the auto-stick then rip thru the gears.

huh? When you are coming to a stop at a light or a stop sign, the car will automatically downshift to first even in auto-stick mode. This is assuming that you are actually STOPPING and not rolling through the intersection.

I use it somewhat often, usually around a turn when I want to hold a gear (2nd or 3rd).

Just curious, when you do use it do you let up between gears or just keep to the floor? If I let or the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts the tach revs up to like 4500 before it shifts. Is that something I need to have looked at? I don't remember it doing that when it was new, there's about 9k on it now.

Yeah, I hardly use mine. I don't really like the ones that we have. It controls where you have to shift. I have driven other cars that allow you to shift all the way up to 5 from a stand still. Not, that that is any use but I just like the fact that I can be able to change gears at a stand still where as in the Maxima, I can't. I know it's stupid but that's just me, no offense to anybody, ok? No matter what, I love this car! It's the best car that I have owned so far.

i use it constantly, since i got the intake pretty much to hear it, but I have yet to figure out it from the start, letting the auto-stick shift on its own when it reaches 200rpm before redline, if the car is actually faster than it is in D. Since i dont have anywhere to time the car, I have to race my friend ( who I beat no matter which mode im in) in his 05 accord coupe v6, and see which way is worse lol

but i do use it because its fun either way.

So, when your in Autostick mode, if u don't shift when it gets to redline will it automatically shift? Also is there a rev limiter if you are in Park or Neutral and you rev the car up... does it bounce off it or just get up there and stay?

dont know about it shifting at redline, as for the rev limiter I thought theres a limit I have rev it pretty high, especially when i installed the custom exhaust last week.

I dont think there a limiter cuz i rev it sometimes at lights when playing with other cars, as far as shifiting on its own, im pretty sure its 200 rpm before redline, and honestly I think the autostick works better this way than shifiting it on your own, because when shifiting on your own theres a bad delay between shifts.

I use it every day. In miami when you use your turn signal to change lanes people usually excellerate to cut you off. I like switching to manual and down shifting for more power so I can show then they can't stop me from getting in...

Yes, it definitely shifts automatically when it nears redline. It also downshifts automatically.

So to clear things up, does that mean you cannot tap the limiter/hold a gear when in manual mode?

while driving, the limiter up shifts for you, unless you would hold the gas just shy of reaching RL. no idea about N and don't care.

there is WAY less lag "manual" shifting than AUTO shifts. You can go from 5 quickly to 3, but AUTO does slow stages to 4 and you have to smash it to reach 3.

Someone go out and see if you can bounce of your rev limiter or if the RPMS just shoot up into the red zone while in park i'm just wondering because i had a ricer come up to me at a light and was bounces off his limiter, and i think he only had a cat-back.

I'm talking about in neutral or park, not while in gear, I know while using autostick for a fact it will automatically upshift for you, in neutral i rev it sometimes like i said and it went pretty damn high.

I think we are talking about 2 different things here. Rev limiter for most engines let you rev a little into redline before bouncing back. W/o rev limiter, you can rev until engine blows. That doesn't mean hitting the limiter often doesn't hurt the engine. Manumatic shifts before redline to prevent over revving. Our stock engine peaks at @5800 RPM, how far past peak do you want to shift?

I have an A33B, not an A34, so I'm in the clouds wishing I had an extra foward gear.

Yes it's rated at 5800 peak, but it's more like 5500, 5600 from DJ dynos.

My engine's not stock, nuff said.

Its just a simple thing i was wondering i'm surprised no one knows if theres a limiter in park and neutral, just because you may not know the answer to a question does'nt mean everyone should automatically not care about it, I.E who cares what the top speed of our cars are 99.9% of people will never see it.

I use it when I am look'n to have some fun with the car. I do wish they would have the shifter throw more towards the driver rather than towards the passenger. It does make it more ackward to use. I can also understand from an engineering standpoint why they would have it go the other way since most of us probably keep are hand on the shifter and would be dropping into manual all the time.
