The keyword here is 'Jounce'. You'll hear it a lot from techs/racers/pit pads/ etc...

If you do a search on google for suspension jounce, you should get some very detailed explanations/solutions than other words. This should help you to better understand the situation from a technical perspective.

That's surprising with your new wheels and tires that you had that happen. I've got the Eibach drop, Stillen RSB and Stillen front strut bar with 20's and I've taken several curves at crazy speeds and never had that happen. The only thing I have ever worried about is rolling the tires over and scratching the wheels. I think rubber can be a factor too and like Deus said, the front strut bar. I had the Toyo T1-S tires for about a year or so and after they got worn down, they began to really slip off the line. I could barely take off from a stop without spinning. Now I've got the Toyo TR-1's and the grip is unreal, major difference. Good luck and consider the strut bar.... PEACE

6th gen around and off ramp @ 70mph = pwnage

 

Jounce is another word for moving up and down. In this case it sounds like a lack of jounce might be key to the problem. A stock suspension with properly inflated RSAs probably would have carved up that ramp without a problem...

 

Alright guys, ease up a little. A 6th gen is no handling beast, but with some mods it should easily be able to take a fast ramp. It's long and wide, so if it's low enough, stiffly sprung, and riding on good, fat tires, it should be very stable and capable of some serious lateral grip.

I should know... all my 4th gen has are coilovers and a FSTB, and even on my 205-section tires it's totally planted on highway ramps at speeds that have my brother's stock Integra LS nearly lifting a wheel. That's the Maxima's strong point handling-wise: stability and grip for relatively gradual corners -- like highway ramps.

Of course, as I should also know, the car still won't be very tossable (my brother's stock 'Teg slowly runs away from me in the super-twisties). Plus, whether you agree with taking ramps at 70 regardless of your car's abilities is a matter of opinion. But it's not like he's hit some kind of brick wall with his car's abilities that it's foolish to try to penetrate.

Besides, it seems his car's abilities are almost there anyway. In all fairness, it was only near the end that he started to lose it, and apparently it wasn't that bad... otherwise we'd be hearing about a colossal tail slide, a spin-out, or a wreck.

 

So VQ's combo was too stiff to get good traction on that ramp? Or could be the tires need a little more scuffing, or less air.

 

My guess is too stiff and noncompliant for the road surface.

Only one of us has actually seen the ramp in question but... my 6th gen on stock suspension and Michelin Pilots is not afraid to take most on/off ramps significantly faster than the posted speed. I don't think mine is a factory freak.
