Bottoming out?

Hey guys, tonight I was pulling out of a parking lot that had a pretty rough/bumpy entrance/exit. I was really careful about coming in (slow, etc) to make sure I didn't scrape, but on the way out I bottomed out.. pretty hard (4 people + cargo = low car). Anyway, everything seems to be OK (no SES light, abnormal vibrations, etc on the way home). Is there anything I should be concerned about? Have and of you guys bottomed/scraped your 6th gen max before? I think this is about the 4th or 5th time its happened to me (although not as bad as tonight).

Thanks!

You are probably fine. But in the future nagotiate obstacles like dips etc at a 45 dg angle it will help with not bottoming out

kdejour - Ypu were probably half-jesting. But my wife and I stayed at the Pine Valley Motel in Spruce Pine NC the last week of August (family reunion) and the last week of September (class reunion) of last summer, and the highway (NC 226) was being rebuilt.

There was a deep break between the parking lot surface and the roadway. I had my wife step out of the car every time we came and went. And still the car scraped.

If I hadn't been careful to avoid crossing at a direct 90 degrees, we would not have been able to get through. Most everyone in that neck of the woods has a pickup, an SUV and a 4 wheel drive Subaru, so were not aware of the problem.

It was half jest because one of my buddies has a steep driveway and when I pulled in I always hear my tailpipes drag. I was in the car by myself. My car is not lowered or anything like that. I only weigh 10lbs lol and it drags. Coming out of there is really terrible. The front and the back drag yikes!. I just park on the street now of course. I can't get a good angle because of the way its made

kdejour - You only weigh 10 pounds? Man, that is awfully skinny! I will assume you left off a digit.

The SL comes with 225/55HR17 tires. I carry 35 psi (2 more than recommended). That very slight overinflation might gain me a tiny fraction of a centimeter in height. When those tires wear out, I am considering replacing them with 235/55VR17 tires. That will gain me another fraction of a centimeter without really changing the handling of the car. There is room within the fenders for the 235s.

Also always watch out for high curbs. I have come close to messing up the underneath portion of my Maxima several times. If in doubt, I either park short of the curb, or get out and look.

I'm working on my weight. I carry my tires the same way. Every little bit helps. Bottoming out is scary as heck
