Depending on the cost wonder about value....
they have the 5th gen ecu at $495 on the site. this will help with all the mods though 7 can turn into alot more with other mods. just the intake on the Z it did 10hp, I can imagine headers+ cattback...

Try and get it on a dynojet, and get the run files so we can see them as well. post SAE #'s.

And listen to SR20DEN ... We 02/3 guys would love the UTEC but we are not as easily compatible as you guys are.

This thing cost a good bit though I would assume? As well as the harness, & using that makes this all plug and play? If you could, explain more about this setup.

If the ECU works and the price is right, I would buy it. The nitrous is not a everyday item. Its mainly for show and to run on the track. I am waiting for the track to reopen to try it out.

Thanks

the ECU made it in, but I missed FED EX and they need my signature, so I will pick it up tomorrow..

I think I wanna run the test as stock, and then the ecu + intake... if so I will do the dyno next week hopefully, cause I will have to purchase the intake first..

Very interested as I have the Injen intake and the CE Y pipe and wondering if a tune would unlock some of that potential.

yes, due to better fuel to air ratio.... it should give all the mods alittle something extra in hp.

I don't have that problem. I live in a Co-op building and the driver leaves my packages at my door.

Standing by for the results ...any price ideas yet? I have experience with tuning/chips/flashing computers via SCT for Fords, any idea if this is similar?

$495. Don't know if they flash the original chip or put new chip on, I think flash the OEM chip. It was tough to get anything out of them, at least over the phone.

hopefully the dyno can explain more...

Any idea on why they can't flash the computer via a Xcal 1/II or a diablo predator via the OBDII port?

I only have the equipment to chipped satellite TV's. Anyone has equipment listed above? If anyone can get a hold of them and want to try, you will be the most popular guy on the org.

Probably because those ecu programmers are for GM or some other domestic. Nissan uses an odd code. So while OBDII and CAN for 2008 must have common diagnostics language, the code for the engine parameters itself is unique to Nissan/Infiniti. As far as I know anyway

Interested but I would like to see more than 10hp for $500......
Coming from the stang world it is so easy to work with the computer and relatively inexpensive for the gains that are to be had.

These aren't poorly factory tuned EEC-IVs running 10º of ignition timing.

And no one here is going to get +10whp out of these anyway without having their car tuned specifically by TS. I would recommend that everyone just buy the L-Spec version from TS with the extended rev limiter and DBW corrections, then tune their own A/F via a piggyback fuel computer.

chances are we may see more then 10, and i'm not even saying this because I hope we do...but the Z has already squeezes alot more of the potential outa the vq35 then we do....the 05 had 22 more hp then us and 19 lb of torque off the bat...so hopefully this chip will give us a little more then we expect. (hopefully)

either way cant wait.

I hope so! 20/20 ins better than 7-10. As I see the different cars carrying the 3.5 I wonder why the different hp/tq number if they are for the same engine-is it all in the tune? I can't see different pistons/compression/heads/valves, etc that goes from the 265 in the max to 300 in the Z. I know that the auto trannies sap some of the power but even the auto Z's are at 287hp/300 tq.

Power aside, I would hope that the ECU modification also includes things like firmer shifts, higher rpm shifts (or the ability to hold slightly more rpm in manual mode) and may also include shutting of the downstream O2 sensor (not sure if you get a CEL with a Y pipe or not).
