04 6spd

For some reason the 3rd gear is a bit harsh sounds like some sort 0f a grind noise, wondering if there are any problems with that transmission?

 

mine does that when its cold

 

Welcome to the wonderful world of lousy Nissan synchros and linkages. Your best bet is to try Amsoil MTG or Redline MT-90 syn gear lubes.

 

When I first got my 6spd, seems like the 3rd gear was grinding.

For my car, I thought my 3rd gear was grinding as well, but I just had to press the clutch in all the way, and shift a bit slower.

I'm going to test drive another 6spd and see if it behaves the same way.

yeah Amsoil is great!! i used that on my HEMI Ram, and man did it make a difference... Great oil, all around...

 

Have you compared it to the Redline yet??? I wanted to try the Redline in my supra back then, but never got a chance to.
