Difference between 2004 -2006

I recently purchased a 2006 Maxima and have been having difficulty trying to figure out if some of the features are different. Can anyone tell me if there are any features that are different. When I see one if the street, I can never tell what year it is.

I couldn't wait for the 2007 because the 2000 Max was slowly dieing. When the 07 comes out, I'll probably regret not waiting a few months. Oh well.

There were some very minor cosmetic changes to the exterior, but you'd probably never notice them. For instance, on the '04, the center part of the taillight assembly lit up as brake lights, whereas on the later models (not sure when this changed!) the TOP part of the tail light cluster is the brake light.

There have been a couple of new colors added, too, so you know if you see a Smoke, for instance, it's a 2006 or 2007 model.

Otherwise, it's pretty much impossible to tell what year model a 6th Gen Max is. And I think that's good.

I bought an '06 as well and may regret not waiting for an '07, we'll see. I like the car and one of the main things I have noticed from reading the boards is that the '06 is a refined Maxima with less problems

If you see the driver looking out to see if he/she is noticed, driving the max,... then it is a 2006, if the driver is appearing cool!! then it is a 2004!! :-))

Cigarette Lighter...

I think however some of the bigger changes came in 2006. But IMO engine, performance , handling are identical between the three...

LOL. I guess I'll have to act cool so that it's not so obvious.

No change in torque, but the SL did receive a 5-spd automatic in 2005 (or actually, late in the '04 model year, I think).

The SL received the same 5 speed tiptronic as the SE beginning 2-6-2004, which means the last five months + of 2004 SL production have exactly the same power train as the SE.
