Accident

one of my family friends hit my car from behind going like 20 mph apparently his brakes has failed and used his emergency brake to stop his car... anyways i need a new rear bumper for the 2005 maxima, does anyone have some sort of idea how much this costs, got a estimate done - only thing that needs to be changed is the rear fender nothing else is damaged, local auto body shop wanted $1200

Rear bumper or rear fender? In any case look around on car-part.com and perhaps you'll find one in your color - and for much less than $1200 I assure you.

hmm, looking for onyx color

is it hard to install a rear bumper ? any guess how much it would be from a dealership or even an autobody shop?

Well, it depends partly on how handy (and fearless) you are. Maybe you could get a friend who knows cars to help, if needed. If you get a bumper that's already painted, you might be able to get it installed at a body shop for a reasonable amount.

Do you have a picture of the damage. It cost me 600 dollars to have the bumper repaired and painted.

The maxima is tricky with the rear bumper. I had that happen to me too a WEEK after I got the car.

I got four estimates from quality body shops ranging from $600-725. The main thing is the bumper shell, it's big piece that has to be completely repainted. And then there is the energy absorber. If it is at all damaged, they have to replace it.

That price is in Washington state. NJ might be more expensive for whatever reason.

There is still a problem with the pics... That server can't be found. Try using Photobucket, they are free and easy.

Not going to fix??? Well the pics still don't work but even without seeing pics I would be getting it fixed. Peeling is not how it came from the factory. At least that's how I am with my car, family friend or not, damage is damage.
My .02...

And of course, sorry but I just have to do this on principle alone:

JUSS REPLACING THE REAR BUMPER??

I HAD TO REPLACE MINE TOO. IT ONLY COST ME $190 FOR THE BUMPER AND AROUND $150 TO GET PAINTED. AND INSTALLATION IS REALLIE STRAIGHT FORWARD. IT TOOK ME AROUND 20MIN.
