I tried hair dryer. Yes he is about 90 minutes from me, not around the corner but I may need to pay a visit to him. He and his wife are expecting a baby though so he is distracted, understandably so.

Dues...I had bought the Lamin-X 17 mil smoke vinyl for my max, Installed with so-so sucess. After about a week of having it on I said the hell with it a ripped it right of. The corners along with the odd shape of the taillight made creases and wrinkles than I cound not get out even witha heat gun.
I had also bought headlight over lays....after putting it on the taillights and seeing the limited success, I cut up the vinyl and used it on my amber turn signals up front and on the cornering lights. Good look on the Onyx.
But if you must have the lights smoked, use soapy water and a heat gun and start from the middle out, thats the way i did it. Worked but i am a bit impacient thats why ine came out only ok not awesome.

I used a hair dryer to install, then a heat gun to try and remove the small wrinkles I had.The ideal thing to do is squirt the film and taillight with soapy water, then heat the vinyl a little so it easier to stretch and manipulate it. Use a credit card or a squegee to smoothen it out... patience and lots of soapy water.
On a side note, you should also have Bluebat do some for the cornering lights. Looks real good as well. I freehand did mine using a template i made out of cardstock.
