Make your own air filter

Hey guys, I was reading the thread about the low price in-cabin air filter. I decided to try and make one. I went to lowes and purchased a 3m filtrete air filter. I took out my filter and put against the 3m brand. I then traced it out and cut it carefully with a magic marker making it slightly larger than the stock. I then streghthened the side with cardboard using and small amounts of adhesive. I let it dry overnight and then placed it in my car this morning. The airflow didn't decrease and it seems to work fine. The filter says it is good for three months. I would think it would last longer in a car since most home use the heating and cooling system more than we drive. And the volume of air going through is much greater than in our cars. You could always buy a more expensive filter whick would last longer. I paid about 13 bucks for the one I got just to see haow it works. I may get an electric static version since they can be rinsed off and reused they are also good for a year. The price is slightly higer but in the long you will save a few bucks. Let me know what you guys think.

who cares about the pictures. I can care less what it looks like. If it works is the real question. Good idea!

It seems to work so far as far as airflow is concerned. If it keeps working and is effective I will post pics. It's very simple though. You could easily make two or three from one large filter.
