Something wrong with Transmission?

I notice now that when I put the car in reverse and hit the gas fairly hard, the car shakes slightly and makes a subtle noise. its not the smoothest anymore. Any idea? Could this be the transmission slipping? What does it mean when the transmission is slipping? What you guys think??????

Is it a clunking noise like the seatbelt is slapping the car?? If so, I "think" it is the flywheel chattering.

Seeing he has the SL version, I think he's got the auto tranny.

If under warranty, have stealership worry about it. If not, flush the trany fluid and check what's mixed in there, metal shavings or coolant. Motor mount as Machinist mention could also be a possibility.

Yes it sounds like sort of a clunking noise. I do have the automatic transmission. I havent had any transmission service done on it at all yet and it has about 36000 miles on it. I do have an extended warranty so maybe I will have it checked out. Thanks for all the information. Any other ideas?

If it was a manual transmission, my guess would be the flywheel chattering with the clutch. An automatic transmission, I'd guess the motor mounts.

Have your local dealership check it out, and please report back with their solution.

Good luck

Here is another bit of info that may give you guys some more ideas on what the problem may be. Many times while in reverse, as I slow down so I can put the gear in drive, I tend to put it in drive while the car is still rolling in reverse SLOWLY. Its not like I put it in gear while I am reversing fast. But while the car slows down after reversing and is rolling EXTREMELY SLOW, ill put it in gear. I never heard any problems when I did this, could this have caused anything?

Well I'll put it this way, don't tell the tell them at your dealer that you do that, they would consider that "abuse"
