I plan on getting this done probably at the end of summer (i have to save up).
Was looking at the Katzkins product, which ive only heard good things about.

Anyone else have any experiences with After Market Leather interior?
And most importantly Pics! Would love to see pics of the door and dash inserts in leather. The terry cloth has got to go!

Katzkin is excellent. I had my car done with their Leather. Its much softer than the factor leather and more comfortable. I got heated seats with the leather.

I'm an authorized katzkin dealer so I guess I'm a little biased but, their kits are great. Their leather kits are soft and you can even add suede inserts for a little extra touch.

Depending on what my customers want, I sometimes do the door panels and cowl pieces. Some of them want it to have more of a factory appearance though.

Either way you can't go wrong with any of their kits. I'll try and get some pics of the next one I do, but I don't have any right now...sorry.

i have a silver 04 max and had the katzkin kit put in my car and absolutely love it. They did my door panels and dash as well in leather. I guarantee that you will not be dissapointed. I think I paid somewhere around $1200 for the kit including install. money well spent. if you send me your email address I'll email you some photo's for you to check out. I had posted some pic's of my interior in one of the threads on this site a while back. not sure if anyone can do a query on my user name to find the thread.

I've had it installed in several vehicles over the years. Most of my customers love it. My only pick on it is that it feels almost like a "pleather". $1,200 is kind of steep, I think my cost on it is somewhere around $900 installed on a sedan. $1,100 on three row vehicles. Shop around.

Im still wondering if you can buy just the leather door inserts and the rest of the pieces to replace the factory suede? I tried contacting them with no response. Rabenoja, anyway you could find out from them and possibly get a price?

WOW!!!!
I LOVE those pics, thats exactly what i want in my car!
Also, i forgot to ask - How long did it take for installation??

My dealership has put me in touch w/ an installer they recommended.
But was curious if there was anyone here from the Atlanta area that could give me a name or shop.

-Thanks

If I remember correctly, I think I dropped it off on a Monday and picked it up on Wednesday. Did not take long at all. I think the leather quality is good and if you're willing to spend a little extra you can get pretty creative with different color seams, patterns, embroderies, etc. I didn't want mine to look custom for re-sale reasons. I think you can also have seat heaters and coolers added if you want them. I have remote start so I did not care to have the warmers added. Good luck.... I guarantee that you will be pleased with the Katzkin kit if that is what you choose to go with.

Sorry for the size of the pic's....... not sure why they are so large.

Looks great. I'd consider leather if I got lightweight reclining racing seats. That way, all the seats would match.

Since I already had remote start, I opted to not pay for the seat warmers. I am pretty intrigued by the new seat coolers that Katzkin offers though. Not sure how well they work, but it gets pretty hot in the summers around here.

If I could do it over I would probably have added the warmers.... not a big deal either way.

tb2211,

Just curious - what color did you use for your leather?? Looks good.
I think im going 1 tone w/ charcoal for my color.
But if i decide to go 2 tone, might do the charcoal w/ the color you chose as the inner tone.

I went with Dove Grey as the color.

Read this if you want Katzkin leather interior dirt cheap...(may 8 2006)

I want leather.

As sensitive to odor as i am, im about getting sick of wiping my interior with clean wet microfiber towel every time i take it in for oil changes.

Call me crazy, but i wiped about 6 times today after having oil change. And after each time, i washed the towel with soap, clean. Also washed floor mats... most often, it's the mats. Well, my Max is a year and 4 months old but thanks to my microfiber, everyone who gets in my car comments that it smells like new.

Anyway, I'm getting sick of wiping the darn cloth seat for ever. Leather takes less wiping at least. Less pore, easier to keep the smell out. Like the smell of leather too. Also, if keep wiping cloth seat, it will wear out eventually. (it feels like getting softer and thinner already)

o maybe i need those paper floor mats and plastic seat/steering wheel covers for myself.(http://www.cee-jay.com/)

Anyway, coming back to the topic,

I just bought the Katzkin leather seat covers online real cheap.

If you go to eBay, there's Katzkin covers for 6th gen Maxima for decent price. It's so damn cheap, I gotta let all of you know bout this deal.

Keyword is 'leather seat covers maxima.' (note im NOT giving out the direct link. u figure our urself. *I'm not endorsing or in any way related with the shop. hehe.)

I just got my leather seat covers this Monday. It was bought on ebay and they say it's made by Katzkin. It looks nice and smells nice too.
I scheduled for installation next Monday.

All together $745, front and back, including shipping and installation. Last time I checked, there were some still available. :P

Yes, my dealer hooked me up w/ someone.
I dont have his number on me, but i think he is in gwinnett.

They said he charges $899, and there is a 3 yr. warranty on the installation.

Havent called yet, waiting until after summer. Want to save up, and wait until the hot days are over.

If interested email me and i'll get you his number.

Hey that's what I got.
When the package was delivered I simply threw away the box and loaded the leather cover in the trunk.
I'll post pics following Monday and let you know how my butt likes their leather cover.

Leather hides don't come wide enough for the headliner. If you wanted to do it you would have to stitch it together...On a side note I have a full hide ready to install on my elite middle console as well as the door panels and a few other pieces. They have the best material for automotive applications hands down. Kenny

I will post my pics tonight. I have a custom 2 tone leather installed. I had it done. Let me just clean off the dog hairs (ha), then I will take some. My car is smoke in color, and so is the leather! Its black on Smoke. They did a wonderful job on it (front seats and Back). I will post give me until round 8:00 tonight. I will post here and do another new thread with pics of my ride (stillen body kit, grille, 18" arrelli rims, custom leather).

Thanks silvermouse & gec. I'll want to do something different with the headliner so I'll wait on that. What I can wait to get rid off is the terry cloth/suede stuff on the door and that strip on the upper dash. I'll be interested to see how gec's leather looks on the door panel...

Ah I got the leather in wrong color... yea yea... when I received the package, i didnt care much to look at it carefully. Anyway, I returned for an exchange and they said they just received it today.
I should get the right color (puddy/gray) next week. Once it arrives, I'll take it to a shop and have pics taken right away. The leather cover felt pretty thick, which I like. I'll give you more detail w/ pics once I get it all done.

Btw the shop is called All Leather, Inc. (ALI). The installer mentioned they make good leather covers, but dont carry them just because they're located too far in Florida. I heard him mentioning other good names, including Katzkin... next visit, ill write them down and post here.

Here you go. Pictures!!
The seats are just like factory, the way I like. Leather is thick, not those cheap slippery filmsy thin type. It feels thick and solid. Pretty close to what I wanted. It feels a bit dry to the touch, not rich as the leather in my mom's Mercedez S430... but still pretty close. It's plump... i like the way it has folds/wrinkles.
Bought 'em on eBay for $400 + $20 shipping. Installation took less than couple hours. It was pretty quick. $325 for installation.

Well... personally I liked how comfy, soft and snug cloth-seat felt. Maybe leather needs some time to break-in... :P

Anyone in Atlanta wanting a great deal and excellent installation should call Evan @ American Radio 770-752-5329
They do all our Katskins installs at the dealership I work for. I just got an 06 SE that they will be doing leather in next week.
