Need Your Contributions (Study)

So fellas here’s the deal. I have been working diligently to get us custom door sills. Today I picked up the piece I have been waiting for the most. However, I was quoted a price that … well I didn’t agree with. The guy who did it for me wants to do many of these and is interested in mass production. I believe he needs to reevaluate his pricing, so instead of arguing about it with him, I figured lets do a marketing study with the guys who will be buying it…all of my max buddies…

Description:
This piece is phenomenal --- high grade aluminum, not the junk flimsy piece in our cars. Its engraved and sectioned cuts and can be done with any custom words you wish. The piece in person is awesome, but the price….well already told you where I stand on it…but its about you guys right now whether he does them for our rides or not and for your prices.

Here’s what I need ---- Every member contribute to what they would pay for these custom pieces. All 4 designed to your specifications…Wording, engraving…etc…Then I can tally it up and present him with the data…Please be realistic and at the same time don’t be unrealistic…lol…I truly love these pieces, and would love to see them offered out and its cool that we can have high end pieces that we can have customized to our likings. Lastly, if you are totally uninterested in replacing your oem sills…please state that so I don’t include you in the market study, but feel free to offer your opinions… Here’s some pics of the one I had done for me as a template…thanks --- Kenny

Very nice. Who ever made them did a good job.
I have no clue what something like that goes for.
General rule of them for cosmetic hopups is $50 and Ill buy it. Over $50 and I start thinking about what performance parts I could get.

$25 for 1 generic light up piece
$50 for 1 personalized 8 letter 2 logo light up piece

I love them, but not a penny over $50 per part.

That is very nice work the guy did. I now that the aluminum is not very expensive especially for that gage. my amp racks are being made out of solid aluminium. I guess it wouls come down to labor how long it takes the guy to make each one. I would feel comfortible with a price tag of 150-250 any thing over that is excessive in my mind. Would I like to see it less that 150 but that is not all that realistic for a custom piece. hope this helps Kenny.

Thank You guys ---- keep it coming --- I will need at least 50 responses to have an accurate count from all the boards..

BTW ---- This also leads us to do the same thing to our door armrest piece's and other custom cut pieces throughout the car

I would love to Ankit ---- but as it stands right now it would be too expensive.. The material for backlighting costs $90, plus I have to modify the doorsills themselves. Be too pricey where we currently are. However, I do have some plastic ones that aren't even close to this but would be a cheaper way to have it done... I'll be sure to keep you posted..

I'm interested in a pair of front lighted door sills that look like OEM with the Maxima name that lights up.

Probably willing to pay ~$50ea max

I would need to see pics of them installed on another max before I buy

I'm in agreement with the $200.00 all around for lighted. If we where an exclusive market I may pay more, however it is clear that these can be produced on a broader scale for different vehicles...

Now those are tight!! I'm with 04SMOKE, If I really like it which I do price really isn't an issue unless it's unrealistic. I would expext to see a price tag of $200-$300 for the set of 4 varying on what you want engraved in them. Plus I really love anything I can get that is a nice touch and can seperate my Max from the Masses.... lol

We are talking about mass market appeal....and honestly, if you put these in autozone and had them fit a multitude of cars, I think they should come as a $99 set, not customized...just choose a few words like'elite', 'maxima sl', 'maxima se', etc. Custom, I could understand something like $150-$200, because then hes got buyers who want something to their exact specs.

But un-lighted, exactly what you have pictured, $100 no more for the set. Im sure he quoted you something ridiculous like $500...in that case hes going to sell to just a few suckers.

I think some people have different expectations and ideas about what something should cost, which is the whole point of the thread. If you say you think they're worth $100 for the whole set, but someone else feels differently (let's say $200), then Kenny might be able to go back and say "well people feel like they should be $150" and maybe make everyone happy.

I know personally from purchasing a set of similar ones for my other car that these things are not cheap. You can get assy ones on ebay for $80 (a set of 2 for coupes), and I paid $150 for mine. That right there tells you that at the very least you can expect to see them for anywhere between $160 and $250 for a set of 4. With people chiming in with their opinions about what they feel they can pay for these, Gec can go back to the manufacturer and either tell him to get lost or try to work out a deal for us for what the majority thinks should be a fair price.

I've like them from the first time you posted them. I'd probably go $250 tops lighted but that would have to include everything I needed to install them myself. A kit of 4 with all the lights, wires, bulbs etc. Free shipping if we can get a small group deal going.

I'm with Ryals, a nice classy mod to distinguish the ride!

Wow you guys are too rich for my blood. I wouldn't pay more then $25.00 each. I love the idea. But 200 bones for some metal seems a little much. Just my opinion. Maybe it will change when my wife is finished med school.

Ya I would pay $25 for them if they were for a honda. That you will be able to find them at a autozone or pep boys, but there is no one that makes these for our cars and it would be a custom made part for your ride.
