passanger window

my passanger window stops working periodically while in use, and then u have to tap the window a lil to get it to work again. the stealership says they think its the motor and its 450 to replace. i dont think its the motor at all, does anyone have an idea or has anyone had this problem to?

No problems here.... yet.

I did have a problem with my wife's Olds 88 driver side window. It got stuck at about 99.9% of the way up about 1 year ago - luckily it was enough to not let any water in. Anyway, just a month or so ago it began to wotk again - no idea why. I thought it was the motor as well, but I guess it wasn't.

$450 sounds pretty steep to me (although that is a dealership's price). If you really do think it is the motor, I'm guessing you could probably find this part cheaper online.

Good luck.

Seems about right to re&re the motor. I'd guess its a good couple hours to get that done and maybe $250 or so for the motor.

Thats a DIY job with some ebay parts tho.

My 04's passenger window is doing some weird stuff.

When i use the auto up feature it'll close...and then open about 3 inches. It usually does this once or twice then stays closed. I've read in the manual that there is a sensor the detects if the window is being blocked, am i to assume that this is the root of my problem?

Anyone else had this issue pop up?

This is very rare but does happen from time to time.

On the vw's i used to work on they used to do that all the time, that is the pinch protection working. What we did to fix that was spary silicone on the rubber peices an the base of the window were it goes back into the door.

I would also spray the slot at the top and sides of the window where the glass is supposed to slide through/in. I would think any kind of binding could trigger the 'blockage' sensor, which results in the glass backing down.

hey guys. newbie here
but i have the same problem or so i think, but with the rear windows. where they go up REALLY REALLY SLOW.(good 5seconds or more)
the thing is im a teenager with a lot of car hoppers. and they love to slam my rear doors. so now it goes up really slow.
maybe the wifey is slammin your door. since wifey sits shotgun right?
for all us married/gf ppl. my ex thought my car door was a vault FULL SWINGING where my body would shake with me in it.

My 04 driver side have the problem that window roll up to the top and drop down 3 inches. Has to to several time to make its completely close. Now can't even go down. So my guess is: the motor dead, am I right?
Please advise and we can I get the decent price for the motor? Do some searching online but hard to find
Thank you
