Tilt wheel steering
Anyone have an issue with their auto up or down tilt steering wheel? By problem I mean do you have a “squeak” as the steering wheel rises and lowers? If so is there a remedy for this? Please don't say dealer either, that’s the last resort.

I dont have a squeek either....but what I have noticed lately is this:
Everyday I get in the car I have to adjust the wheel up about half an inch or so, to see more of the gauges. I have the auto down feature on always, but lately I noticed I leave the car in a comfortable position, get back in and need to readjust the wheel. I used to think it was just the way I was sitting, but now I think its coming down too low, past where it originally was. Anyone else see this happen?

With the memory settings, it moves back when you unlock the car... so if you've tweaked its setting, you need to reset the memory setting.
Works great in my '06 as my wife is a foot shorter than I am and obviously has a completely different seating position. Programming it to the keyless remote is a nice feature too... just don't grab the wrong set of keys! =)

ok, so hijack back on track... From what I gather only one other has this issue. Guess I'll take it in to the dealer for a workup (driver heating seat recall, tilt wheel squeak, A-pillar squeak, rattle from behind the glove box, raunchy strut sound, and a rattle from the sun roof). <sigh> fawking rattles, squeaks, and other misc noises.

My 06 maxima with 127k just started to have telescope problems. It started to make a wierd grinding ticking noise when moving the steering wheel forward and back. DIK what it could be.
This is what I found that it is happening to the 7th gen maxima’s too and the fix.
Found this TSB

- IF YOU CONFIRM The steering column power adjustment (tilt or telescope) does not work or makes abnormal noise when operating the switch. ACTION Replace the adjustment motor (tilt or telescope) with the one listed in the Parts Information. NOTE: Do not replace the entire steering column when replacement of a tilt or telescope motor will solve the incident, if it should occur. See this bulletin for further detail.

If your seat + steerin wheel are adjusting to your last setting and you hit the brake to put your car in drive, it stops automatically where it was so that may be the reason it's stopping half way. You have to wait for it to be done before wen hitting the break to shift into gear.
