Liquid Silver Guys....

Looking at getting tint for my new max and was looking for suggestions. What type of tint do you guys reccommend? I was contemplating between limo tint or the metallic silver tint. Does anyone have pics of both or either tint on a liquid silver maxima. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

i've got an '05 liquid silver - with 35% normal tint all the way around - it's a little subtle but it's nice - also the legal limit here...

I like the contrast of a good dark tint on those silvers. I don't know about the metallic silver tint, though I don't think the COPS like them - or the super dark limo tints. I would stick with a tint that's as dark - and legal - as possible. I would also stick with a good quality tint like 3M. I chose 3M dark tints - legal on the sides and a shade darker on the back window (in CT, there is no limit on the back window - other states vary). I love my tints.

I went with 20% on my liquid silver max and love it. looks dark.... but not to dark. It does warrant getting pulled over. If you ride "dirty" on a regular basis then go with the legal limit for sure. I'm passed those does, so if you pull me over for my tint, then write me a ticket and get out of here.

I have 35% all the way around, don't go with metallic silver tint, personally I think it's cheesy and the Max deserves better!!

I have 20% all the way around:

I asked for a tint that was a little more reflective, so it's not just a smoke tint. I also contemplated the "silver mirror" tint and couldn't find any that didn't look totally cheesy. I have seen a few upscale cars with a tint that had a definite silver hue but I am thinking it came that way from the factory.

Anyway here are some pics:

Yea the only thing i find wrong with anything higher than 10 percent , is that at most angles because of the windsheild the 2 front ones look lighter, giving it that factory suv (livery) look wich i hate. I like it to look like all one tint shade, ya know.

An option would be to go 20% in the rear and 35% in the fronts, like I did with my ONYX max.

I went with 15% on side and rear windows. 50% down the front. Dark...but not too dark. I've had it for almost 3 years now and never had a ticket. Of course I have an "Active Reservist" state tag on the back. I think that helps.

Hey Blueline,

You don't have to put the filthy criminals in your beautiful Max do you? I hope you leave that to the Crown Vics and the like. No way im puttin a perp in my ride, trunk maybe, but more than likely attached to a rope to jog behind the car all the way to !

My car came with 20% tint all around when I bought it. Personally, I wish it was a little darker. I'm not about to tear it all out and put something darker in, though.

I have 2 layers of 20% in my car. Looks very nice, especially since the frame around the window (on the outside) is black, it blends in nicely. Than again my tints are high illegal so if you don't want to risk it, go for something much more lighter, but a silver tint in my opinion is a no-no

I think normal black tint is the best, all the other metalic ones and the colored ones make the car look cheap and fake. I have 20% black tint on the rear window, and then 35% on the door windows.

not to go off the subject about what tints to get, but how long are you suppose to keep the windows rolled up for? the guys over at the shop said keep it rolled up till wed and i just got the tint on sat... so me being a dumbass and forgetting that i'm not suppose to... i ended up rolling down my driver side window about like 3 inches or so and now the little lining in the interior that wraps around the window looks all retarted and also some parts of it has been pushed down while a few parts are up looking normal...

You gotta take her back to get it fixed. The shop that did my windows placed tape over the buttons and locked the other windows so I would think before hitting the buttons. Most places recommend three days of keeping the windows rolled up. The place that did mine told me to bring the car back so they could roll them down and touch them up if needed. One last thing most tint shops say that metallic tint can cause problems with radio transmission in cars with the diversity grid antenna. I don't know if it's true but some food for thought.

ahhhhh... alright well they called me today and told me to bring it ao they can inspect it for bubbles and i hope that they dont charge me for fixing that window. also... i think that thing about metallic tint messing up radio transmission might be true cause i noticed my radio channels being ****tier than usual... i thought it was the location, but how can that happen when i'm on the freeway

i think black tints look the best on any car. i went with 20% sides and back and kept my front OEM to stay legal. i'm too scared to be getting a ticket over tints. i'm happy with the way it looks. i think an onyx max with black tints is the most beautiful thing ... mine's like that!
anyways, get black tints please!

I always get a metallic laced tint on my cars. It has a better heat filtering that plain smoked tints. I haven't had any issues with that on my 05 since I had the windows tinted (20%) last summer.

I've been doing a little research on window tinting film, such as dyed, deposited, sputtered and hybrid, what kind of film did you guys get?
