I Think I Stalled. But I Drive an Auto. HELP!
Mmm last night I installed a Injen Air Intake (not CAI but a short ram/ jwt type)
I only used the Elbow w/the air filter to make this.
I didnt disconnect my battery to reset ECU yet but it sounds mean.
But today after dropping my neighbor at her school i was driving down the long street going at like 4-5rpm to hear my intake.
To be honest I was beating on it like tapping the gas (between 2-3rpm) then flooring.
Then right before I hit the red light i noticed my CHECK ENGINE LIGHT and all the other lights (as when you turn on your car not engine) came on.
But i couldnt steer. I was in Drive too! so i pulled over and put it in PARK then i turned off the engine then restarted it. After the restart of the engine everything seems fine.
Is this okay? im afraid i damaged my engine
also what if im racing and this happens?!
please help with all your knowledge .org family!

if that happens again, just put it in Nuetral and restart as you're moving or sitting still then go back to Drive. that's dangerous trying to pull over and park first.
i wouldn't worry unless it happens again. all those lights are just telling you the engine is off.
as far as Org Sticker, since the Org family does not condone street racing, by buying one you agree not to.... but they can be found in the Classifieds.

dangerous as in getting hit by someone else? or letting the car roll in drive with the engine off?
oh no i dont street race.
But in nyc theres a lot of maximas that try to street race me at night.
Just thought if i had a maxima.org sticker they wouldnt want to. or they'd sign up. ive seen a few .org maximas and i respect everyone of them.

possible that it was due to certain speed.
but it was in drive and i have a SL.

rocking of the intake? i didnt install the bracket yet.
im using a strong string thats tied to the battery strap and fender wall bolt
if the intake rocks n shakes in the engine does that affect anything?

You should seriously think about putting in a proper bracket.
you can go to autozone and get universal mounting brackets look at the intake section on the forum for installation instructions...... as far as shutting off on you it could be a safety precaution to keep from blowing up the motor..... the engine is equiped with sensitive knocking sensors but I have never heard of anything like this happening.... I have a 5 speed auto and I redline alot never stalled...... if you do stall while in drive put it in neutral and coast to a safe spot to stop.... while stopped try and restart the engine..... if it does not restart shift it back to park then try and restart again..... if you still have a problem reset your ecu by removing the negative terminal from your battery..... if that doesn't work have your MAF sensor checked, could be crappin out on ya..... if that isn't it..... take it in to nissan and have them check it out...... never shift from neutral back to drive in an automatic.... at higher speeds you will damage your transmittion.... at slow speeds you will hear a loud knock and feel it kick that can also cause damage..... that is what they call a neutral drop which some people think is cool but in reality shortens the life of the tranny..... good luck keep us updated maybe it's greater than it seems and maybe not.....
nothing wrong with going from N to Drive while rolling. it's another thing if you're accelerating/revving in N then go to Drive which is just stupid. If you loose power steering you're causing more of a hazard trying to get off the road.

But now that i think about it i was rolling while in D
then after i pulled over i Put it back into Park then I restarted my car
im at work now and i reset my ecu since im at work
it should be fine now.

My brother had the same thing happen to him a couple of years ago while he was driving his buddy's new Vette. He was tearing down a side road and when he hit 100, the "idiot" lights came on and the car stalled. He pulled over and was able to start the car. It drove fine after that - although he drove a little slower.
well heres an update guys.
i reset my ecu
then rain -__-
but no stalls and runs like a dream again.
also before the rain i installed a bracket just like in the stickies a lot stiffer
and relooked any wires. thanks a lot for your knowledge guys. this post can be closed if you like but yeah =] dont beat on your maxima!
