What can I expect from the dealership today?

Hi all!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, even though the Hurricane's lost...

My car is going into the stealership today and I am a little worried about cost and the fact that I have never dealt with this dealership before. My car is a 2004 Max SL and I just purchased it two weeks ago. It is still covered under the original warranty. I have four issues going on with it.

1. The steering wheel shimmy is out of this world! I have read the thread on it, but the dealership keeps telling me that balancing the wheels will take care of it. I have done this already. What can I say to them to convince them that the problem is deeper?

2. The turn signal is sticking when I turn left. The car came with it like this and the salesmen knew it, so I am not too terribly worried about this one.

3. When you make a turn and accelerate, or just accelerate fast, there is a horrible noise coming from around the driver's side wheel area. Heat shield possibly loose? Any other suggestions?

4. And this is the one that really worries me. I have the Bose system in the car. Yesterday all the speakers, all 3, on the left side quit working properly. When you adjust the music to the right, everything works fine, but when you adjust it to the left, you hear very, very little. Now I'll admit that I sometimes listen to my stereo loud, but not nearly loud enough to blow speakers. Could they make me pay for these? As I said, how common can it be for everything on the left side to go out at one? Suggestions? Comments?

Sigh...

1. Get the service advisor to take a test drive with you. Make sure you travel a route where you get up to the speeds that the shimmy occurs at.

2. Should be a simple repair to the mechanism in the steering wheel. Warranty should cover it.

3. Hmm....CV joint maybe? Mileage on the vehicle? Should be warranty anyways.

4. Replacement of the head unit. I had issues with the drivers side speaker cutting out when using the radio. Replacing the head unit solved the issue.

Take a look a the stickys at the top of the forum too...some of these issues have been well documented.

And it's still covered under warranty? I have 44k (and also pruchased my car 2 weeks ago) and it has no warranty...unless I've been told wrong.

The thing with the speakers could be an amp. either the one in the unit or an external one.

As to the warranty, some come with extended warranty if the original buyer purchased it.

My car came with an original 60k warranty. Because I work with the dealerships in my area through my job, I was given an upgrade to a 100k bumper to bumper.

With the radio if you give it a good smack on the drivers side it should work fine till you hit a nice bump(thats how i fixed mine for a long time)
