Back to dealer for fixes. AHHHHHH!!!!

Just got back from my tour in Iceland. Wife took care of the car well, washed it, huge quarter size piece of paint peeled off the front bumper....Left passenger seat belt is locked up, will not extend, chrome trim is faded on the roof. Dealer thought is was same as my bronze paint. Getting frustrated. Just dropped 733 bucks for a new set of tires after 18K miles. They cracked from the heat driving from New Mexico to Cali. Steering shakes the wheel at about 40-50 mph pretty bad, winds my watch when I drive it. Got a appointment with the dealer when my roof trim and seat belt comes in, they want to look into the paint peeling. Big black quarter sized chunk from the front bumper. They said I might get a loaner, a Neon, might not. Frusterated and ranting. Any suggestions? Trans has a little slap in it also. about 18,600 miles on the car.

Carcus is back, but not too happy with the car.l

on my max the seat belt was replaced for free b/c i was under 36k,... and they replaced the chrome on the roof,.. but that is a 12k limited warranty in my manual that the dealship stuck with pretty seriously.
Sounds like you have the dreaded shimmy.... which is always sad.

my tranny went out at 13K and nissan gave me a new one. it was wierd but they said it could have been from a variety of things. problem wiht mine was that it took em like 3 weeks to get my car back to me. (since they ordered it from tennessee and i guess they carried it on a radio flyer)

Only had my '06 for a day and the driver's SRS went bad. They gave me another '06 Max fully loaded right off the new car lot to drive until I had repair complete.

This is why I lease...if anything goes bad, its only a temporary problem!!

Are you still under the 3 year part of your warranty?

Did you have the Badyear RSA tires that cracked? If so I hope the $733 was a prorated price because the cracking of the RSA’s is a known issue.

If you have the 4 speed automatic:
there is a TSB for a harsh 1st to 2nd gear shift found here:
http://www.nissanhelp.com/Ownership/.../NTB05-001.htm
and a TSB for abnormal shift of the transaxle:
http://www.nissanhelp.com/Ownership/.../NTB04-035.htm

If it’s a 5 speed automatic there is shift shock when cold:
http://www.nissanhelp.com/Ownership/.../NTB04-045.htm

fyi:If they replace the chrome trim, I think other orgers have ended up with cracked windshields shortly after.

Sorry to hear about that. Seems like she was running well before you left if I remember correctly.

I was actually considering selling my Max, but to be honest she is such a good looking and performing car that it will be hard to part with her. Even after owning her for 3 and half years I still really love the look of her.

Hope things work out for you.

Guess it is all minor stuff. The 20 inch tires will never really last as long as 18 inch, and driving high speeds through over 117 degree heat is not good on any rubber, even with class A temp rating. The chrome trim on the roof was messed up before I left to Iceland, had the trim ordered in Biloxi Mississippi, but Hurricane Katrina hit so had to bail. Weird about the seat belt in the rear that will not retract, it is locked and can not even get it to extend. Car has always been clean and well taken care of. Shimmy is finally getting to me though. Second set of tires, rebalanced 3 times. I can live with it I guess. I Like the car. Thing is, just made MSgt (E-7) in the USAF.....might end up trading the Nissan in and going back to BMW for a new 3 series. I always loved my BMW's. Just sick of wasting time on buying new cars. Really wanted to keep this Maxima and wear it out. Not really sure what I am going to do.

Got my wife a 94 Stang 5.0 GT convert, so kinda having fun playing with that right now. Needs a little TLC, but I really love my RWD play things, and missed the convert 3 series I traded in for the Maxima.
