Blown hose or water pump

Just like the title says. I went to leave my house a few moments ago and heard a noise that sounded like the ac pump slamming on. So I shut the car off and restarted it then saw steam every where. I havent any idea why it would do this. It has 15k on it and I havent drove it in 2 days. The car didnt run long enough for it to boil the coolant or pop a hose.. I am really pizzed right now. I am in control but truly upset that my 15k mi 06 maxima has to be towed to the dealer... They better not give me **** for the cai

Has anyone in the 6th gen had anything like this happen? I have fron rotor shimmy starting and they have to replace the grill as well. I love this car but if it gives me any more **** I will buy a toyota

Maybe one of your ac lines broke. This might make the white steam looking that you saw coming out of the engine area. Did you raise the hood when you saw the steam to see where it was coming from?

Probably not steam if it was cold. Do you have the Stillen FSTB? The right side requires the A/C line be pushed. Maybe was pushed too much or was rubbing? Or just another Nissan defect.

Must be something unusual, as radiator hoses usually last for five to ten years, sometimes longer. I've been on the ORG over three years, and this is the first such report I have seen with the 6th gen.

Maybe DTinVA or madmik are headed in the right direction with this.

There was apool of antifreeze on the ground and on the motor mount. I think it was the fluid burning off from the exhaust. Fortunately the only thing under the hood is a cai.

Sometime when you stop a hot engine, it will boil over into the overflow tank. When it cools down, the radiator sucks back what it needs from the tank. If the tank is already full, the antifreeze ends up on the ground.

1) Have the dealer check it
2) Keep the overflow tank about half full with 50%water/50%antifreeze
3) get some Water Wetter (by Redline) at your local auto parts

I have a 170 thermostat (from 350Z). I avoid overheating at any price. A pain to install but worth the protection.

This was a cold start. As it turns out its the lower radiator hose had split. I had them take care of the brakes and some other issues and they never mentioned the cai. They didnt have a loaner on hand so they rented me a car, a hyundai accent what a POS

A pain because the thermostat is sort of behind/above the alternator. Got to remove windshield w. tank and move the power mgmt module. It is build-in a large housing and also connects to the oil cooler. To fit the shorter 350Z 170F thermostat on the Max requires a 45 elbow 1.25 inch diam coupling. NISMO sells a 350Z 154F model for $125-150.

I have replaced most my OEM hose clip with Stainless clips to avoid a hose pop out. I am surprised about your split hose.

Smooth - My sympathy. You are having REALLY bad luck. I'm on the ORG almost daily, have been for over three years, and you have the first 6th gen busted radiator hose I have seen here, and one of the first inoperative AC units I have seen here. You are now due for a few trouble-free years.
