Anyone want to guess what my next mod is????

OK, in following my boy Ramberg's lead, I decided to mod the engine manifold. I took it to a local polisher and he was just taking too freaken long to even start on it so I said **** it, picked it up, used the money to buy a superb Dremel 400 XPR kit. Freaken thing is awesome. I then used the left over cash and purchased a really nice Russian SKS (7.62mm) assault rifle (guns are another hobby I have), being retired military, I'm all about home safety and security...

I want to thank my boy Ramberg for sending me the manifold cover. He purchased a new one, had it polished and sent me his (pictured), when I remove mine I will send him it as a replacement. This way my car will only have minimum down time. I'll be doing the swap out tomorrow. Have some other things in the works also so I got to get busy...

Holly s***!!! That rifle is awesome! I'm somewhat of an enthusiast as well, obviously not as knowledged as you, but I know a little!

Anyways, what are the gains from porting/polishing the manifold......I take it, that's what you're doing. And also was there a thread somewhere on how to remove it, and if so then can you please send me the link?!
Thanks and good luck with the project and re-installment!

Dan

I'll take pictures during the swap out for everyones info, I'll do it myself.

Porting and polishing does give some gains but not much because of the way our manifolds are designed.

I only wish someone would get off there a$$ and make a plenum spacer for the 6th Gen...

Looks something like this (this one pictured is for a 350Z)

It effectively increases plenum volume, lowers intake air temperatures, and allows front cylinders to breath more efficiently resulting in gains of up to 7-10+ hp to the wheels, and increased throttle response.

Last week I ordered a 30 round clip and a cleaning kit, my bayonet retracks (folds) into the stock. Damn this baby has some power...(7.62mm is a great long range shooter)

Oh and any porting of a manifold should help some...

Is that metal? Is the research already done on mm thickness and such?

Not a silencer, a flash suppressor. Yes MD Legal because I purchased from a gun dealer in MD and all info about the gun/new owner is run through the state police before sale.

Some are metal, some are composite. I'm guessing the research is done for the cars they make them for, not sure if anyone has done it for the Max yet...

Give me specs...plans...etc....if you got 'em. My company has metal fab capabilities, I just don't know if it would be worth it $-wise for me to try, and I don't know anyone with a 6th gen out here.
Is this something that could be down throughout the model line?

I personally don't have specs, but if you can get hold of a manifold cover, I'm sure you can use the base as a map/template. You would also need to have gaskets and longer bolts for a kit like this to work...

It effectively increases plenum volume, lowers intake air temperatures, and allows front cylinders to breath more efficiently resulting in gains of up to 7-10+ hp to the wheels, and increased throttle response.
That concept doesn't translate directly to the 2-stage A34 intake manifold. The reason why it works on all the Z33 manifolds is because the OEM design caused 2 cylinders to receive less airflow than the other 4. The spacer for the Z/Gs rectifies that design flaw and the larger spacers obviously allow for even more airflow for more gains.

If you are thinking of a plenum gasket, which reduces heat soak, then yes, it will help. But it won't give you much gains.

Chris, good job with manifold and the rifle is awsome. I had good old time shooting it at when I was in the russian army. But in IMHO nothing shoots better than 7.62 cal AK-47.

Well I'm a law abiding gun owner and was raised with guns and worked with them for 24 years during my military service (8 of those years was Military law enforcement and US Navy Visit, Board & Search Teams) . I also teach my daughter gun safety and have the proper locks to secure them. May not be for everyone but I'm all about equaling the playing field with the illegal gun owning crooks.

I also posses two concealed handgun permits from VA and FL that are good in 35 states...

I like the AK-47 also, great weapon, shot my friends AK on the range, not much kick back and easy to dial in. I just got a great deal on the SKS and it's also 7.62. Thank Comrad...

Nice job on the intake. The rifle is sweet, but from a U.S. Military man I'm surprised you didn't go with an M4 carbine(too small?) or the .308 cal M16 (too expensive to shoot?).

SR20DEN has a secret mod he does to the A34 plenum, from what i got, he just removes the butterfly inside the plenum and runs it as a regular air plenum with no mechancial features.

I use to have an AR-15 (5.62mm) Carbine with telescoping stock. Those weapons are great but cleaning intensive, AK's and SKS's you can basically pull out of the mud and it will still fire... Anyway I got it for a great deal with a local gun store I do business with...

rct www.rctperformance.com can install that spacer
we did it to my friends twinturbo 350z
and we installed it to a g35 coupe
and a fx35 ( the jeep )
they wanted to put one on my 04 but i had to pay about 225.
lol its possible tho since its all vq35s i know theres rumors of not being able to fit on to a maxima due to bolts or something. but it will fit and work!
10hp gains for 225 isnt so bad lol.
but being a college student mods are the last on my to do list.

My father is a Navy vet as well, but not in for 20+ like you, he can still shoot them, he always likes to point out he has a markmen medal or something.
That is what he says though, I can shoot guns, so can my brothers, my wife was on the pistol team at FSU.
When my father learned that about my wife he said that I have bigger problems than him because if my wife wanted to shoot me she could actually be accurate...ftl acutally....

Man that if you can watch that video without a tear in your eye....
I come from a family with a long military lineage. My grandfather was a well decorated military man....

I did my basic training/service to fullfil the requirement and family "tradition".

Respecting!

I like your gun. My personal fav is the sniper rifle...lol! I think the way things are going up here in Canada, we will eventually go the same route as our cousins in the USA. There have been a number of home invasions up here in the west end of Montreal mostly by the same person or description of that person. They were done in the early morning and were mostly non-violent. Except that the invader is now getting more cocky and pistol whipped a seventy year old man a couple of weeks ago. Last week he shot and killed a 60+ year old man in front of his son and wife. This guy is getting dangerous and is now a killer and an invader. They are trying to find him but he keeps turning up in different neighborhoods at different times. I would like to see him get caught. There are almost no households in Canada with guns. Many Canadians like hunting and fishing and most of the firearms in Canada are hunting rifles. That is why this guy is so confident. If he had to worry about the next house that he invades having an owner with a gun, I think he would think twice about invading homes. He is a serial home invader with now several home invasions to his credit. Some only blocks away from my home! The problem is that this has created some copy cats to try it too.
