KYB struts - 2 thumbs up

Ok just want to let the 6th genners know that the KYB strut package is a very nice mod, especially for the cost. There is a group deal on these for $215 shipped and they are worth it. They perform great. Most noticeable difference from stock is the rebound. The amount of time it takes the struts to make contact with the road again, like after a bump or something. Thats improved. The ride is not as soft but still very comfortable. The install was easy as well so I cant see anyone being charged more than $100 for labor. My oem struts werent bad so I still have them, but trust me, I want to throw them away! Sorry...nothing on the butt-dyno though. See ya

I wonder how these compare to the Koni adjustable struts.

how does the stiffness feel? i used to have a built turbo civic with kyb agx with h&r sport springs with the dampening dialed up high. i wonder do they make oem hieght springs but with a stiffer spring rate. pair them up with these and it should be swell.

SO far GR2s work wonders with Cattman springs. I can't say anything about reliability given that I have only had them for 2 weeks but the ride feels awesome. Not much stiffer than stock but very together. No more bottoming out and no more of that feeling that the struts are broken all the time. The car just feels solid.

Stiffness level is perfect. If my wife AND I can enjoy it, it means that its not too harsh but not soft. Any stiffer and she wouldnt drive the car anymore. Any softer and Id get something else. Feels very similar to how it felt on my 3rd gen... 10/10

Was it your wife that drove the car into a barrier and smashed the A pillars back in the day (as in last year)?

My wife just tried an Acura TL 06. She still prefer my ride (Progress springs with KYB GR2). TL was too stiff for her taste. If she is happy, then I am happy.

Can you take a turn at 120mph? If not I'll wait for coilovers.

U hear clunking or u bottom out. Look for fluid leaking out the strut.

you will hear a banging noice whenever going over bumps and such, and the car will bounce more like a lowrider since the shock isn't holding the weight up. the strut will also be covered in oil from it spilling it all out..

Clunking sounds or your car gets too bouncy, one good way to test is stand facing your car next to each wheel, with both hands, push straight down hard on your ride and let go, the car should rise and stop. If it continues to look like it's bouncy, the shock is going or shot...

I'm sooooooooooooooo far above and beyond that step now, technically i should just take my struts and shocks out and drive on nothing but springs.
Cause thats where I am, I am at the beyond gates and they have opened..........
EDIT: well then what would hold up the spring you ask, the spirit would, the spirit.

Roads arent too bad, my struts started making the noises withing the first 2 months when I lowered the car. Plus i have speedbumps at work, i can allmost attest to the day when the strut gave out. Mind u this is driving over the speed bump ultra slow, which i find cuses more damaged then just coasting over it.

Fak, i hate speed bumps.

quick question ...... i have seen some maxima's in my area with 20's.... it seems that with lowering the car.... it makes the rear wheels give a "butterfly" effect as if there is too much weight be put on the wheels..... i hate this look and dont want that to go into effect if i lower my car...... have any of you noticed this with the 6th gens?

I changed my springs, struts, shocks, endlings in one shot. Realigned the car after the job (free of charge as part of work) and everything is awesome. I luv the ride. A bit harsh for NY roads but feels very solid and not too stiff. Girlfriend hasn't complained yet so I guess its not bad.

OT but when you go up in rim size you may have to buy a camber kit to angle the bigger wheels for proper contact with the ground. I know some cheap *** lexus owner who should have done this but didnt, and is paying for it right now. Bigger wheels= camber kit purchase, especially going from 16" to 20".

I dont have this problem. They said my camber is about -1 which is good for high performance street and a bit of track.
