Car has a slight raspy sound, but only when you really punch it. I can live with that...

Most complainers of raspy are way behind me, I don't hear ****!!!

Here are my impressions of the headers.

First, from what I can see the install quality is top notch. Everything looks clean.

The headers are surprisingly quiet even under hard acceleration. The Greddy cat-back mufflers on the other hand are raspy and buzzy. My magnaflows with NO resonator were quieter. I think I can live with it though.

And as expected, my SES light is on presumably because my car is now running lean. I'm expecting the AFC to correct this.

Under hard 1st, 2nd, 3rd acceleration the car pulls noticeably harder.

I've decided to wait to get the AFC installed and tuned before I dyno.

Guys, I am assuming the SES light is the result of running lean. Might be a bad assumption. I will give them a call tomorrow and get a second opinion.

I think the G35 muffler is what gives it that sound. Im not sure that would fit under our cars.

Is there a drop in low end power if you just accelerate at normal speed?

Yes! First of all, those polished headers look absolutely beautiful looking down into the engine bay.

Second, Chern wasn't lieing when he said the stock exhaust weighs a ton, my car feels lighter.

Third, I personally, even with the SES light on, don't notice any significant power loss on the low end. Top end power is noticeably increased.

Fourth, for shear bragging rights to say you have headers on your Max.

How about pulling the the codes with an OBD-II scanner to find out exactly what it is instead of guessing? Autozone or any of those parts places will typically pull the codes for free.

Same engine, different intake and exhaust manifolds, different mufflers, etc etc.

Good suggestion. Didn't know it was free. I will do that.

Wood for the rest of my trip?
its either cattman, HKS (which i think is sic), or magna what do you guys recommend.
The resonator will take a lot of the noise out, and the maxima comes stock with a huge one. Magnaflow makes resonators as well, but it is personal preference whether you want a large sound. As for the "wood" there could be some vibrations on your seat if you get the drift. i need hopefully not explain anymore.

I wouldn't even consider it, when you go to return the car it has to be returned in the same condition with the exception of normal wear and tear. Unless of course you save all the parts and reverse the process prior to turn in. IMO a waste of time and money...

You'd be screwed unless you bought it out at the end of the lease or reversed everything as Chern mentioned.

So when are you going to dyno, and when you do are you going to use the tailsniffer or a wideband bunged in a test pipe for more accurate A/F readings?

My AFC should be here Monday or Tuesday. I set the appointment up for next week and have it installed/tuned. It'll be interesting to see what Kenny can get out of it.

I'm not going to worry about it too much but I noticed something today. If I put the car in reverse with the wheels turned I hear/feel a clunk as the transmission engages. Doesn't happen all the time, just when I notice the tranny engaging kinda rough. It appears to be hitting where the front header meets the y-pipe. The flange is close enough to some part of the engine so that it's bumping it.

okay thanks coital. 'wood' made no sense to me but that last comment helped. any suggestions as to what exhaust to put on the car to keep it from sounding like its winding up, just want to keep it somewhat mean.

Just ran to Autozone about the SES light after the header install. This is what I got. Looks like it's related to O2 sensor #2.

Well, looks like I might have found the problem. Looking under the car it looks like one of the O2 sensor harnesses made contact with the y-pipe and melted it. Back to the shop we go.

So that 826 bucks included placement of the 02 were it would get damaged? That sucks man, I think im going to dyno my car soon in your area and tune the vafcII. I dont have headers yet but I wanna see what the car can put down without them first, plus I dont have the money. My friend said I can get it dynoed and tuned for 100 bucks at some shop close to him, I guess il be doing that in not too long.

Really? Didn't know that. What area do you live in anyway? Where the hell is Flint? I guess I could look on a map.

Anyway, Jotech is certainly better than the first shop I went to. If you know a good shop let me know.

I will say that Kenny seemed to know what he was talking about in terms of tuning that VAFC.

The cattman is pretty sweet and it comes with the big res, as they dont make the small one anymore. Its a bit too pricey. The magnaflows make the nice sound not ricey either. Others like the greddy. Both are nice, it depends if you want dual muffler with quad pipe or dual muffler singles.

Flint is right outside of Tyler, I moved here from Tyler a couple years ago. Im probably about an hour and half from dallas, I got some friends who live in the dallas area as well as most of my family.

I would say about 10 hours. They told me they had 3 people working on it though.

I can't imagine someone doing this without a full lift. No Way.

During my install, Da-Max bit me twice, continuously talked about my mother and gave me a psychotic death stare as I drove away. But we got it done (11+ hrs), I couldn't imagine what one guy would do without a friend as a whipping post...
