Good news guys. I finally dropped my car off along with the Hotshot headers and Greddy cat-back exhaust. Kenny Tran of Jotech Racing will be working on the install. We didn't get into a whole lot of detail about the install but he did note something.

I mentioned to him that in about a week or two I will want to install a V-AFC II(Glude, he did confirm what you were saying about the VAFC) to correct any lean issues.

As an option he said he could weld another bung to the y-pipe and install a wide band O2 sensor when it's time to tune the AFC. That would allow for more accurate tuning.

Customer service was top notch. Needless to say Kenny is very knowledgeable. Kenny and I sat down and talked at length about a little bit of everything.

Total cost of installation is a hefty $826.

Jesus, I still say your getting ripped off but congrats anyways. It should be nice with that extra power. You better make sure they do everything top notch for that price, I sure would. Did u pick up a vafcII yet?

Not only that, I paid up front!

Looking at their work(they've made 10 magazine covers, 4 with the Scion tc alone) I don't have any doubt.

No, I haven't purchased the VAFC yet. Have any good sources(best price) to get this?

Get a chair and a 12pak and go watch the mechanics f%^& with that back cat!!! QUALITY entertainment

BTW, do you know the wiring diagram to install afc. I have neo, and just neeeeed to make sure im doing it right!

Again, NOT a ripoff.

Sorry but 1600 bucks or so total is NOT worth it for the power gains. Sure, its the best power mod u can add to the vq35 but theres a line were price outweighs the benefits. Oh well, I only have to pay 200 for my install.

826$

I'd like to know the differences of this install vs the 5.5g install.

It cannot be that(500$) different.

its definately not a 500 difference. If anything the install is just like the altimas.

the car might be too lean after that install and give you a code for "low fuel", watch out for that.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Kenny definitely knows the wire layout, he pretty much ran it off to me in conversation. Sorry, I don't know it. Also, he pointed out that the NEO is pretty much a color version of the VAFC-II.

Maybe he'll send something to you if you give him a call. Not now though, he's working on my install.

Jotech is selling the S-AFC for about $325. I think I'll try to haggle a NEO+tuning deal.

I know, $1600 is nutz but hey...

I still have the V-AFC II and possibly the technosquare reprogram on the list also. There goes another 1000.

or you could get a vafcII off ebay for 250 and tune it more precisely. Why do you want the NEO, nothing special about it IMO unless you just wanna pay extra money to have a color display.

just make sure you get something SAFC, NEO, VAFC something..

the car is lean from factory, and all these mods just made it worse, especially the headers..

good luck..

and if you can get that diagram for us that would be awsome!!!!

The neo still has less tuning points than the vafcII. It has 16, safc has 12, vafc has 24. The diagram is listed on altimas.net, Velicos did a write up and its what my mech. used to hook my vafcII up.

have any of you ever tuned and/or got any data from a WB O2 read from the main cat area?

The cat's can give a lean reading if you're taking readings from the rear 'tail sniffer'.

And another thought, since you guys have dual exhaust, it may be reading lean because of that as well.

not lean from the dyno, the car will actually give a SES code for leaness (low fuel).

if you keep the resonator off, you will have wood for the rest of your trip. Yes cattman uses magnaflow mufflers.

Im gonna say high 230s, maybe mid 240s with some decent tuning. Just a guess though. Did they give u an estimate on how long its going to take?

i wish i knew what that means, i took the resonator off and it gave it a tone and if i put the highflow resonator on it will quiet it down right?
Wood for the rest of my trip?
its either cattman, HKS (which i think is sic), or magna what do you guys recommend.

A lean code typically suggests a MAF problem.

Still, question hasn't been answered.

Don't forget the Turbonator too.

Just trying not to get your hopes up is all. Besides, speculation is useless until you get a properly done dyno, unlike the last one we saw.

Ok, I just got the call that my car is ready. No check engine light so far. No leaks so far. They did mention that on the top end it sounds a little raspy. Didn't Chern have this same problem?

Yeah, when you remove 2 precats the car is gonna be loud and raspy. You should install a magnaflow 27" resonator if you wanna cut down on the sound. So did you get a dyno done as well?
