MAx is gone

Well, I dont post a lot here, but I got rid of my 04 se yesterday. It was a little over 3 years old and 70k miles. Got a Honda pilot for a ridiculous price. I am actually sad to see her go, since it was my third in a row(97,01,04). Maybe later in life if they make some more dramatic changes to its design and the roads in this country get smoother I will get another. I actually intended on getting a murano, but I just didnt like the ride compared to the pilot. O well, I will check in here and again. I did drive an 07 Max and it is an upgrade compared to the 04-06 for sure. Just didnt really capture me enough to even consider it. Good luck to you all and cherish your times with good ole max.....

Congrats, I've also heard you can get a Pilot for rediculously low price. Honda just reams you on the Odyssey to make up for it.

willysmooo - Like you, I found the SE and the lousy roads I frequent to be poorly matched. That is the primary reason I went with the SL. The SL was just enough smoother riding that I could actually dare to pass every other toilet, despite my aging bladder.

We'll miss you here. Come back some day. . . like maybe with a 2009 7th gen Maxima in the spring of 2008?

Ya, I would for sure look to get another down the road. I actually did trade in my 04 to the dealer, and it was really really intense. I was at the dealer for 5 HOURS. It was in overall good condition with a little over 70k like I said. They wanted to give me $9500.00...I went back and forth for 2 hours, and even had the general manager and owner of the dealer both inspect the car. I got them to give me $12,500.00, the blue book for a dealer trade is $10,215.00 and the private party was $13,200. I could have gotten a little more selling myself but just didnt want to deal with it. My car was black and honestly I think it would have beena pain because the hood, bumper and mirrors looked like someone just took a brush and splattered white out all over them. There were so many chips that it almost seemed like there was something wrong with the design of the car. Anyway I really love this pilot. I just recently got the saab suv as well, and my mother and I switch off driving either one. The saab is leased and I drive a lot so I will drive the honda more often.

I had everything but nav on it actually(driv prefered pack). I looked up the value and like I said, the private party value was $13,200 or so. Once you get over 60k in miles it makes a big difference. and mine had over 70k. The sticker was like $32,300 or something like that. I paid a little over 29k when I bought it. so for 3 years it cost me about 17k. which if I would have bought 25k per year on a lease would have been more than 17k for 3 years. Not to mention the rotors would vibrate quite a bit, and the trans would kinda jerk here and there, and who knows if the suspension was gonna last after how stiff it is, and all the potholes I hit over time. The rims on 2 wheels were gouged a bit......

Man that sucks. I basically have everything except nav and id want at least 17k on a trade in. We traded my wifes 02 with about 78k on it with a couple options but no leather and got about 10k for it. Ive got 57k on my car now and would hate to trade it after 60k and get screwed on the deal.

ya, honestly I told the dealer I might buy it back within a month if I could find someone to give me more for it(they really dont want the car, they took it so I would buy the other one) and I have brought 2 people out to the dealer to look at it and they wouldnt take it cause of all the chips, and i had about 7 other people call, and the minute I mentioned the miles, the offered my no more than 10 grand ALL OF THEM...i thought I was in the twighlight zone.
