07 Max tested in OCT 06 R/T
Its almost as quick to 60 but a couple mph slower in the 1/4 than the last auto Max tested with C/D, and the 0-100 ia sec or so slower.
Road and Track, October 2006, had the following to say about the 2007 Maxima (at page 117):
"FRESH OUT OF NISSAN’S TENNESSEE PLANT, a drive in the new 2007 Maxima can be described as just that, fresh. Though not radically different on the outside, tweaks have been made in all the right areas to add aggression and character to the Maxima’s new demeanor.
Key changes to the exterior include a new grille, hood, side sills and fascia with headlights that look to have received the “M” treatment. The Xtronic CVT takes the place of both the 6-speed manual and 5-speed automatic and has proved to be quicker, not to mention infinitely smoother, than both of its predecessors. Feeling a little at a loss over the absence of a manual-shifting transmission? The Xtronic also provided a manual mode where the driver is able to toggle between CVT ratios (2.371 - 0.439:1) and simulate progression through “the gears”.
Along with the new transmission, Nissan seems to have effectively eliminated an inherent irritation found in previous Maximas commonly referred to as “massive torque steer”. You can now lay it down pretty thick in the corner without fear of accidentally running into it."
The information box for a 2007 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE shows a 0-60 of 6.2 sec, 0-100 of 17.4 sec, a quarter mile at 14.8 sec @ 93.6 mph, and an estimated top speed of 149 (electronically limited). The SL model undoubted has a slower top speed, because of the lower speed rated tires.

Once I got used to it, it's not bad.

whats good about that is, I won't hit the governor when I really need to go more. I'd hate to get beat by a car cause I can't go beyond 147, but like you said, not everyone have the ***** to go that far unlike me lol...

But another problem I have when installed my endlinks, I was driving around with an empty trunk(no 12inch sub, spare or jack), and the handling was luvlee. Once I put everything back in the handling was still better than before the endlinks, but it wasn't as good. I guess that's common sense but just an observation.
I will say also, changing the tires did some good also. I'm using Dunlop Direzzas.
That's why I love the Max, every mod I've done so far has had a noticeable difference in the way the car drives.

I put in the enlinks and got my rims wrapped in BFGoodrich TDA and it handles smooth like hell. There is this part of the road in Brooklyn (65th (I think) street going on to the belt towards verrazano. I went over 65-70MPH on curvy road and never went over the painted lines. Felt awesome, sticky tires helped of course.

Aura XR: The Aura XR is the top-line Aura model, and features the most aggressive options in performance available on the car. The XR is fitted with the 3.6 L DOHC V6 with VVT, rated at 252 hp (188 kW) and 251 lb-ft of torque (340 Nm) which can be found in the Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac CTS, as well as the 2007 Pontiac G6 GTP. When equipped with the 3.6 L engine, the Aura is the first front-wheel drive GM passenger car to use the new Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission. The transmission features TAPshift®, which allows the driver to manually select gears by using paddles located behind the steering wheel.
Now I gotta worry about a SATURN showing me its tailights,
I don't mean to be swingin on saturn nuts, the performance caught me by suprise, I think most models of course will not be the XR, but the XR looks to be aiming at the maxima, camry and accord. I think its sharp, but inside im not so impressed, I hate that shifter.
