That Plastic Piece Behind the Front Bumper?

What's that plastic piece behind and below the front bumper called? It's black and has a ridge that looks like a small air dam.

Mine fell off today and went to pieces. I need to know what to ask for when I call the salvage yard and stealership to check prices for another one.

I'm guessing it keeps a certain amount of road dirt and water out of the engine compartment so it should be replaced.

haha, mine weren't even bolts. They were those plastic snap lock pins like the ones up top on all the engine cover pieces.

Actually that's what I meant. The TSB replaces those with metal clips and metal bolts. I would go to dealer and have them replace if for free since the TSB is suppose to fix the potential for it to fall off like it did with yours.

Those plastic snap-ons are $1/each and it took 13pcs for that cover. I ran over a blown truck tire and luckily the piece still hung on. The interesting thing is the guy at the counter (dealer) knew exactly (instantly after I described what happened) how many and which types (two).
I suggest you drop be the dealer and ask for the partnumber. It will be easier to buy it off the net.

i believe its a scrape pad
not sure on the name but its there so when you pull into gas stations n such it doesnt damage your frame
it also keeps debris out of the engine bay

Sweet sig... those lambo doors are hot! And as for that "under engine cover", mine better not fall off cause I have my neon and LED kits bolted to it!

In case anyone else needs one, Nissan calls it the "Lower Engine Cover." It costs about $30 at the dealer. None of the local salvage places had one. One guy told me they usually trash them getting the engine out the bottom.

Seriously, at the top of this form is a link called Technical Service Bulletins that will take you to http://www.nissanhelp.com/Bulletins/Maxima/ then just select the model year and whammo!

I just noticed last night that mine is looking chinsy and is drooping. I guess I'll add that to my list of things to take care of. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Mine was falling off month ago after i bit on the aspalt with the front and lost 5 clips. Dealer charged me $2.00 a piece and I fixed it myself (wasn't aware of TSB at that time). Its been there since then and I haven't lost a single clip. Once it gets warmer I will remove it to clip off that lip hanging down.
