Any 6 speed owners experience this?

Well if I drive my 2005 for quite a while, then let it idle (like going through a drive-through for example) then drive at slow speed/low RPM for a while I lose about 50% of my clutch pedal. It will come back on it own after a time (pumping it SEEMS to help as does accelerating through the gears) but this is a pain.

I'm planning to take it to my dealer on the 20th but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

BTW, it only happens when my wife is in the car with me...when I'm alone I guess I accelerate enough to keep it in check.

Huh! My guy said the same thing about the chrome strips too. "That's the first time I've heard of that".

It must be something they train them to say.

Happened to me twice, once just putting around and once after a carwash .

So I went and bled the clutch fluid, replaced it with SUPER DOT BLUE racing brake fluid 600F Dry Boiling Point.

Hasnt happened since

I've owned my car for less than two weeks, and it's done it twice to me. at first I thought it was learning my driving style or something.. but then it went back to normal..

I had this happen to my car several times the dealer replaced the clutch master cylinder. They thought it mite be an internal leak around the piston in the clutch master cylinder. I had this done a few months ago and have not had the problem any more.

Had similar problems last summer. Only happened during extreme heat (100 degrees or hotter) with the A/C on. Dealership could not identify problem. Best guess was that the extra heat from the A/C somehow caused the clutch fluid to vaporize inside the lines. Once that happened, the system lost pressure and the clutch pedal went limp. The instant the lines lost a little bit of heat, the symptom disappeared.

Knowing that it is cool now, I don’t know if this helps anyone. Good luck.

My womans 04 is going in tomorrow for this very problem. She is 2100 miles over 36k. Not only does she have this problem but her pedal is like 3-4 times heavier to press than my 03 and my buddies 06! Should be interesting to see what/if Nissan does anything for us.

Will post tomorrow with more.

My 04 had this problem once as well. Came home, shut it off and started it back up, and it was fine. Brought it to the dealer, and of course, they couldnt find anything wrong since it wasnt doing it when I brought it in. I can pretty much guarantee it's the slave cylinder.

It sounds lke the clutch master or the slave cylinder is malfunctioning. ot needs to be bleed, could have some air that has gotten into the system somehow.
I haven't had that problem with mine.

I have not had this problem with my 04 and 49 K miles. But I suspect that this is likely the cause of your problems.

If this is not the problem, try replacing the clutch fluid with a racing fluid that will stand up better to the heat.

Just got a call back from the service manager at our local Nissan dealer and it turns out that her master and slave cylinders seem to be fine, BUT they are replaceing the entire clutch assy. because they feel there is def. something wrong with the pressure plate (hence the unusually heavy pedal and poor grab). Nissan is covering the pressure plate, flywheel and all the labor but we have to buy the disc because it's a "wear item". I can live with that considering it brought it from over a $1000 to about $100.

My wife's '06 has done it to us a number of times... Car just turned 12k miles, and we bought it with just under 3500. Its happened to her about 4 times, and its done it to me twice... but I've also noticed a change in the pedal pressure a few times... mine is always just with normal driving... no issues with carwash or water... but it does tend to happen more often on warmer days as I can recall. I have some extra SuperBlue at the house... I think I'll try bleeding it this weekend and see what happens.

I took mine to the dealer and for the same problem at the beginning of the year and they told me that they could not duplicate the problem. Then I took it to different dealer this summer and they told me it was the clutch going out and that they could not do nothing about it because I was over my 30k or whatever the miles are when they do not cover the clutch anymore. I am going to try to bleed the line before I go and purchase a clutch. Stillen has a good price on one for about $600.

Also, if you are going to replace your clutch, consider a lighter flywheel. I want to go with a nice light one to improve acceleration.

Remind the dealer of the 60K mile drive train warranty on the Max. The clutch is part of the drive train.

It's my turn, same thing happened to mine last night. I have 25k miles the temps were about 60 deg. I dropped it off at the dealer last night.
I'll let you know what they say about it.

I dropped it off last night. Talked w/ them this am, they thought maybe the Clutch master or slave cylnder. I'm guessing they havent looked at that part yet. They gave me a loaner car, I havent heard back from them yet. They were also going to do the rear end recall and some other things. I've also been having trouble with the shift linkage binding-hard to get into gear lately. I should know more tomorrow.
I miss my max, they gave me a sentra to drive -not going to buy one of those-ever yuck.
I'm going to bring the sentra back and just drive one of the Z"s till the Max is done.

My womans car has been in and out of the dealer for clutch issues for almost a month...they just put a new flywheel in (why they didn't do that when they did the clutch is beyond me) now we're blowin up cam position sensors because something is wrong or mis aligned with the new flywheel. I'm still not convinced that the slave cylinder isn't bad too!

They did the rear subframe recall as well and didn't really notice any difference. But I need to contact Nissan because at 39k we have atleast 2 bad struts.

We have had a ton of trouble with this car...i'm glad mine is 5.5 gen!!

Alot of us have this problem and still the dealer knows nothing about it....

Mine does it every so often, sometimes it happens when I sit in traffic for too long. It'll also do it if there is heavy rain and there are massive puddles. I try to avoid puddles like the plague but, when I do have to go through them the clutch seems to drop.

I didn't have that reaction or problem with the Nissan dealer I went to.

Just got my max back after a week in the shop. They replaced the clutch Master cylinder, some of the shift linkage parts, and some other work as long as it was there. They didn't have any problems doing everything under warranty either. Mine is an 04 w/ 25k miles, but the in service day is over 3 years last July. Oh and they gave me a free rental for the whole week it was in. Not my first choice, it was a set of wheeels and it was free.
They even did a couple of things that weren't under warranty and warrantied them too.
Maybe you guys just have grumpy dealers. I'm happy with this one so far.

Congrats, Rusty, on getting it back with all the parts replaced. You will have to let us know if this truely fixes the problem. I have experienced the same thing over the past 105k+ miles I've put on my 04 SE. Interestingly enough, I have gotten to a point where I can feel when it is about to go. I would then pump the brake pedal a few times all the way to the floor and then I would have full back pressure on my clutch. Weird, I know, but it seemed to work....may have just been a coincidence.

mine hasn't done it in a couple weeks... seems like it's more likely to do it when it's warmer, since it's been a bit cold recently.
