Halogen to HID Swap

I know this is in the stickies except for the answer to this... Is it possible to remove the halogen projector by removing the four screws and pulling it out the hole in the back? I know the HID version can be done this way but not sure of the halogen. Just don't have the time right know to tear down the car. Thanks

my guess is you might have to open up the headlights and then it will come out the other end i doubt it will come out through the little hole they provide. but ur welcome to try though .

Yeah, can't really look in there without taking off the bumper and headlight but right now there just is not enough time in the day...

Everything else about a swap has been answered except for this. I am sure there are more than a handfull of guys that don't want to bake a headlight.

I got a very good deal on the bulbs, ballasts and projectors on ebay this week, having spent < 250 for everything

Projectors: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

Ballasts AND D2s Bulbs:

These parts are actually pretty easy to track down, and they don't necessarily need to come from a Nissan either. The Max uses a set of hella e55 projectors, which are used in the BMW 5 and 7 series, E class benz, s-type jag, among others. Find you some quality D2S bulbs and ballasts, and you should be good to go.

I'm worried if swapping the HID projectors will be a plug and play kinda process, just as you are. I'm not looking forward to having to retrofit them in. I guess I'll let you know when I get it done!

unless your car came with HID, you are not going to be able to use your stock connector. wiring isn't too hard. People that have more experience with 6th gen wiring will be able to tell you exactly how to do it, but it shouldn't be too hard. My 2nd gen wiring is holding up pretty well to the HID retrofit, but I am going to change the wiring a bit to make it safer (adding a 30 Amp fuse and such)

yeah the wiring to the ballast and to the original is very different .. my guess is you shoudl just get the full head light assembly other wise get those aftermarket kits and it would be even better then what your doing now ... and the stock projectors are good enough to let teh light flow through ... my 0.02 cents.

An update for anyone interested. I took off my halogens to see if it was possible to get the projector and reflector assembly out through the back like the HID are capable of doing. Well what I found out was you cannot take out the halogen projector assembly through the back, those reflector bowls are huge. The only way to do it is pretend your Betty Crocker and bake it.
