Spring uses

ok this thread goes out to those who know:

what exactly...performance/technical wise...do the springs do for a car. lowwering or raising?

now second part of the question: and this is achually directed towards brian (catts) inparticularly(can't spell, sorry) if you read it. what benefits/specs do your springs give/have?

the reason why i ask is because i wanted to lowwer the front...deleting the wheel gap however i want to raise the rear where it was before the drop...now the dilema is that i don't want to sacrifice performance for cosmetic! should i swap out the rear springs? i'm running off stock 17 rims. thanks for any input.

shorter springs or "drop" makes the car ride lower to the ground, therefore making the center of gravity lower.

for example, i hit a curve at 50 mph in my stock max, while turning i can feel the car weight being thrown in towards the curve (like when youre in a backseat and get thrown to one side), on a dropped car you could take the curve and the car is more "relaxed" thus giving you more control.
so basically it gives you better handling.

dont worry about sacrificing performance for cosmetic, because with this "upgrade" you will improve on both. the big sacrifice will ultimately be comfort.

unfortunately for you, you live in flushing, ny (my ex was from there), so you will feel the car ride a bit rough through potholes and imperfections on the rough new york city roads.

hope this helps.

thanks for the info.

i'm already lowwered with progress springs. however the thing is i was thinking of putting the OEM rear springs back in. cause i was looking at it i think the rear is a bit too low for my taste. do you think its smart to do that? hense why i asked performance for cosmetics...lolxz. thanks though.

I am lowered too on progress springs and its great. It improved the look by closing the wheel gap a bit and the performance has improved too. I live in Brooklyn, NY and YES it is rough with the new suspension. I can live with it for the benefits it provides. PERIOD

I have and all seems fine to me. This was due to rubbing issues with my upgraded rims. I am getting new wheels next week and may consider putting the cattman in the back again.

ok so if i were to do that...place the OEM rear springs back in...what exactly should i be looking forward to sacrificing in terms of performance.

unmatched have you ever driven the max with the full cattman springs or have you always just had two? how did it feel before and after the rear swap?

Anywhere around Bensonhurst and Ditmas Park most of the time. Other than that I am pretty much everywhere taking into consideration a fact that I do about 20K a year.
