'07 Maxima Trade In Value...not Good

I went to the dealership to check out the new G35. For the hell of it, I decided to find out how much they would give me for my car if I decided to trade it in. Keep in mind that my car is pretty much loaded with everything but nav. It stickered at 35K. It only had 1800 miles on it.

Infinity said the car was valued at between 19 and 20k. You guys can only imagine the look on my face. I wanted to say but just excused myself to go throw up instead.

Infiniti is the worst for trade in that I have come across anyway.

My identical twin and I went to trade in our cars for matching G-coupes. My Max was 8 months old with 8k miles on the odometer. They also offered me 21k. I bought it for 31k.

My twin's 2003 Red Ram Thunderroad (Only 623 of the red ones made) with 23,000 on the odometer.....get this.....$16,000 for her truck in pristine condition. Garage kept as was the Max........ They gave her husband closer to trade in value for his Jeep Wrangler (one with the long bed), than for either of our vehicles.

We were there that day to get 3 g's from them. Their trade in offers were so poor that we walked with none.
There is a difference between taking a depreciation hit, and taking a raping. I took one, not the other.

Yep - Infiniti only gave me the FAIR trade in value for my perfect 04 max with a ton of mods. I had other places willing to give me about 2,500 more but I wanted the FX so I took the deal.

If you want top dollar then you need to bite the bullet and sell it privately. I didn't want to deal with the hassle since i had just finished selling a motorcycle privately and it's a pain in the azz dealing with flakes.

That's because you're trading in for a hot selling model, and they can't unload a near brand new car on the used car lot quickly at good price to turn profit. If you were to trade it in for a QX56, they'd give you more.

Dealers love to rape you on the used because then they can make some serious dow on the turn. Selling new cars doesn't pay the bills. Repairs and used are where the moneys at.

the car is probably worth around 25-26, the salesmen just wanted to keep that profit for himself. I give 19-21 k for 04-05 maximas. No way an 07 is only worth that.

That sucks. Infiniti was going to give me 19k for my 04 max with 35000 miles on it..

BUt they tried to get me with the payment on the lease of a 07 g35.. He said they can give it to me for 790 a month for 39 months.... I said hell no and left.. He has been calling and sending me letters ever since.. I would rather keep my maxima..

The KBB trade-in value of my O6 SL is $23,150. That dealer is crazy.

BigDave - Your loaded '07 is probably worth about $5K more than that dealer quoted. If you keep it clean and put normal miles on it, you could probably get $20K for it several years from now toward a new Maxima.

I absolutely detest the endless tactics such as 'let me check with my manager' or 'we have to close this tonight, or I can't promise anything' or . . but you know the spiel.

The behavior of that dealer is exactly why I prepare my offer in full detail (right down to the cost of the locking lug nuts), stating the VIN # of the car I want, what I will accept for my trade-in, and what I will give for the new car.

I send it only to the dealer's internet manager (no salespersons). I am fair, and do allow them a small profit. Either they accept my offer, or prove to me why they deserve more. It has worked so far.

It really was very disturbing. The salesman is a very good friend so I'm sure he wasn't trying to take me for a ride. The appraiser said he couldn't believe it himself so he called around and checked. Apparently, that was the going rate...or so he said.

I did like the G35, but not enough take much of a hit on my brand new car. I will continue to drive my car, however, I'll try to keep the mileage as low as possible. Unfortunately, with the gas mileage the new max is giving me (15 mpg) I'll have to drive SS more since it's better on gas. (18 mpg)

I gurantee if you go after a year you will see numbers above this offer.

U know the routine, as soon as you drive the car off the lot.....value instantly decreases....

I think they weren't necessarily jerking you to jerk you, but they apparently didn't want the new max for the new G. Your car is a "used" 07 .....in 06...they won't be able to sell that till summer 07....So.... it's not the true value....
